I know I havent posted sense the stone ages, but I check back every now and then :p

I had a 12" alpine Type-R powered by the MRP-M350 mono amp running 300w 2ohm, all settings turned all the way right. My head unit is the CDA-9855 (link (http://www.dealtime.co.uk/xPF-Alpine-CDA-9855-CD-MP3-WMA-Receiver-MP3-CD-Receivers)). I recently (3 days ago, tax return :p) purchaced the MRP-M850 mono (link (http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/product.php?model=MRP-M850)) running it at 800w 2ohm, all settings to the right. I notice a difference, but I thought it was going to be a HUGE difference, its just a slight one.

Here is the box I have it in (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7008542&type=product&productCategoryId=cat03082&id=1099392684268). Im running 2 gauge down from the battery to a splitter box into 2x 4 gauge to my amp for the speakers and my amp for the sub.

Is the size of the box limiting the output of the sub? Or is it the size of the cables running down? Or maybe the HU for some reason? I'm really stuck, my friends have swap-meet subs with tiny amps that are hitting harder than my solo.

And also, I can get the Dual Subwoofer System (http://www.dualav.com/carsubs/xobp12d.html) from my work for $80, would I be able to use that mono amp to power this, just have 2 wires comming from each output to each sub? And would it possibly hit harder/sound better?

THANKS EVERYONE, I <3 U ALL!!

you can use two subs. my money is on your head unit. I had my three tens hooked up to my good pioneer radio and it slammed. now I have them hooked up to the stock kenwood in my xd and it is not cool. the pioneer is going in the xd asap.

Also double check how you sub is wired if it is dual voice coil they can be goofy sometimes.

well first off are your running the woofer in a sealed or ported enclosure, the reaseon i ask i am running the same set up before. i was running the type R 12 and a mrv-300 mono block alpine and it would rumble hard, The box that i used was a 1 to 1.5 cubic foot box sealed. the other thing is you should have the gain on the amp all the way up. what you need to do is turn the gain down all the way first then raise the volume of the head unit till it reaches a distortion level, then you back off. now next you would raise the gain on the amp slowly till you are close to distortion and then back off. I am assuming your running the front of the deck correct like i was doing. it would be best to run a seperate amp to the highs, but then you would need a electronic crossover. My set up now goes to a alpine head unit, to a audio control crossover to a alpine 3522 i think to my mids and highs, and a mrv-300 to my 12 in boston now. i love the sound its nice and punch but can get low too when i want it. and the box is only 1 cubic foot.

my boy had 1 single 12" type r gettin 550rms from a nice older model phoenix. it was too much for the R to handle, he had to turn the gain to the lowest setting and it worked pretty well, but even with the gain down if he cranked the hu up to max it would distort. He just re-tuned the whole system to reach distortion at about 80% volume and just never went past that point. worked out nice in the end, he was running it 300rms from a no-name amp. it was one of those 1200w stereo amps! (300 rms bridged @ 2 ohm, not 1 ohm stable lol)
anyway, it sounded louder with the 550, but not a ton louder. Alpline just made a really effeciant sub and you can just slam it with 300w. Course that box was sealed also. ive heard of people doing ports and crushing the sub with like a thousand watts, but not only do i not see the point, but i also woudnt want to break my sub! lol, its only rated at 500 if i remember correctly..

my bets on they sub is gone as you said all the setting were full which would make the amp clip and after time it slowly killing your sub. they sub will have least out put and with the new 800rms and a clipped signal you blow it. go to a pro and get it tuned. if all setting are full, your crossover point will be like 200hz, your phase will be reveresed, your bass boost will be on full.

your lpf should be set at around the 80hz make as anything higher is mid bass.

turn bass boost off (all the way to the left) turn phase off (all the way to the left is wired correctly)

your headunit has 2volt pre outs so i wouldnt go past half on the gains.

The 9855 actually has 4 volt preouts....not that it makes the world of difference though.

Set your gains properly they dont need to be all the way up it's not a volume control. Mess around with your gains and you will most likely solve your problem if it;s not your HU settings.

300w to 800w should be like night and day no matter what box theyre in.
