This happened to me once before but wiggling the power wire under the hood stopped it. Driving down the road with the system playing as it should and then hit a bump or shift gears and jerk a little and the subs shut down. Then they come back on when they feel like it. On, off, on, off rest of the ride home. No loose connections from the battery fuse all the way to the subs. All amp connections are fine and fuses there are in tight. Could the RCA's behind the HU be loose? Any help would be great. Thanx- B

Its happened to me before but then I pulled over and fixed the problem, lose wire to amp (I think it was power but not positive). But you said you already checked all the connections so I have no idea. Good luck on fixing it though.

Yeah, the in line fuse was loose in the power line so I tightened it back up but the problem didn't stop. It's like when an amp overheats and shuts itself down only that's not it either. This amp has never even felt warm on the outside.

Did you check your ground connection?

Two words: Continuity tester.

Those things are your best friend in situations like these.

Connection is loose somewhere. Could be anywhere behind the radio to underhood to any part of the wiring to the back.

Ground is solid as it could or will ever be. I'm thinking something with the HU. That Kenwood POS has given me nothing but trouble since I bought the car. I'm now on my 3rd one and this one is all screwed up! Everytime I save up a little $$ for an aftermarket some unexpected financial issue comes up. One day, it WILL happen!

also, check the remote wire for the amp. i know its hard to tell if the amp power is cutting out or if the signal is cutting out. if its signal, then its a rca issue. did you tape up the rca connection on the back of the deck? if not, you should always do that. preventitive maitinence.

^^Honestly, i'm not sure if they're taped or not. Proffessional install.

awesome info so far... also check your sub wiring, if the + and - wires are bumping together that will push the amp into protection mode. And on some amps the +/- are so super close that a frayed wire and cause this issue.

if it was a pro install take it back and get them to fix it for free. you paid good money for a install it should work correctly. if they dont fix it get your money back and go to a another audio store and get it fixed

Okay, so i'm an ***! Swore I had checked everything really well but apparently I overlooked the RCA connections on the amp. It's on the back of the seat and if I put the seat back up too quick it clips the cables a bit. Didn't pull em' off but loosened one enough to make the amp cut out. Knew it wasn't a power issue because the Memphis PRD series delay's itself when the stereo is turned on. When the amp turns on I can hear the click. When this happened it was bass cuts out and kicks back in like a light being switched on and off. Anyway, all figured out. Thanx fella's!

Glad ya got it fixed. I actually had this happen with my ground. it was too short so when i flipped the seat back up it pulled slightly on it and loosened it up. i never did lengthen it, i just re-routed it slightly so the seat edge just misses it

glad it was a simple fix. double/tripple check all the connections periodically. things happen to loosen up over time. liike some of my rear bumper screws and rear hatch latch. oops.

sounds like thats your next step, check the connection on the back of the hu.
also make sure when you flip your seats your not pinching any wire too tight. you could be damaging a wire.

it sounds like you need a complete going over. i would start at the hood and tighten the terminals.. even if your failry sure there ok, then tighten all yer amp wires, then tighten the bolt for your ground. also is your ground a similar gauge wire as your power? id check there too.
then once your 100% all is well, id take the dash off and check the back of the hu.
If thats all swell, then i would start to blame with hu/amp or speakers. if you have other equipment around i would start swapping things out to check functionality..
