It is always a good idea to replace XD's stock speakers for better ones. :)
for better sound,
- Head unit.
- Dynamat
- Wires
- Ground/Capacitor
...
(I started with H.U. then speakers. now planning on amps and dynamat)

i would get some custom work done man if thats what you really want to do...fiberglass door panels custom rear deck ect...any local stereo shop could tell you the best speaker for what you listen to man go check them out.

that kinda like saying, find me a house to live in thats XXX dollars..
you just have to decide on your own. you need to just go to stores and give a listen to whatever they have. smaller local shops prolly have more of the high end stuff then circuit city/ bb and such. so look for those kinds of places.. but dont just skip cc and bb either, they do carry some good stuff, cc carries kicker stuff now and bb has alpine. i mean they each have a seleciton, those are just my favs from each place. as much as id love to say go out and buy --, there the best!.. i really cant. it honestly does depend on your ears.. ask yourself this also. Do i really want to buy something just casue someone told me even though ive never heard of it?
As for as some entry level stuff, try pioneer, infinitys standard line etc. when you get to high end you start talkin boston acoustic, diamond etc.. there are a ton of brands and each brand often has a range and selection of models varying from amazing auidophile to entry level to competition loud.
So just search arouind a bit. if you find something you think you like then ask about it here, im sure wed all be glad to help out with whatever we can.
well if your going for a show car a jensen sub and bazooka amp do not belong. for a show car i would go alpine. start with a dvd 7inch fold out screen, get a pair of type R or X alpine Splits for the front doors. i would get around 4 type x woofers. 4 alpine pdx mono block amps, a pair of pdx for the fronts. then get it all in a custom fibreglass install. then chuck a couple of screens in places like the headrest, doors. could also chuck some splits in the boot to go with the subs if need be. not sure if you get pdx amps over there but they are hot as here a pic of mine

I would also be getting a full leather retrim then you can start working on the oustide.
you have to spend big on a show car if you want it to be any good.

what he said. plan on dumping ALOT of cash to even think about competing in the show circuit. jensen and bazooka will not do it man. those are (no offence) wal-mart bought junk. you dont have to go as far as getting custom glass work (fiberglass) but it surely helps. there are many different show classes you can enter. for example--import, foreign, mild, wild, lowrider, extreem, ect.
but before you even think about entering for a show, these items are a MUST:
wheels/rims--mainly 17's or bigger. 18's will do just fine. and not pepboy 18's either. plan on dumping about 1200 on a set of quality rims
suspension-- lower your car with either springs, coilovers or bags
ICE (in car entertainment)-- better have some extensive ice in your car, dual decks with a flip out screen, subs, amps, lighting, nice and clean installs
performance-- turbo, s/c, nitrous, under hood performance items (headers, cai/sri), polished or painted pieces, ect.
vehicle appearance--door dings are a NO NO, get them fixed. scratches in paint are a NO NO, get the car wheeled out. wash car thoroughly..then when you think its clean, wash it again and put a quality polish for optimum shine. this needs to be showroom fresh EVERY time you go to a show.

in australia 18inch is soo small for a show car you need to have at least 20inch mags, but yea cost a lot to make a show car you be looking at 20k plus to get it show worthy in aus
It also depends on the area.
I know what 2loud said, which is all true, but personally, I feel seeing car after car looking like that at shows, it gets kinda redundent and I find myself just eye boggling the models.
Personally, my opinion, and what I plan on doing, is making my car good enough to put in shows, but not so crazy that im mad broke, dumped a lot of money into it, and such.
I just want it to look good enough that people stop, look, and go... "Damn...thats a hyundai? nice..."
sorry i didnt really answer the question, i guess when someone hits me with a give me a show car and puts bazooka and jensen in the same post, i just start with some audio recommend basics lol
but yeah ^^^ what they said all the way if you really want to go showy.
if i really wanted to do my car as a show car i would take what i have now and scrap all but my infinity amp and stinger wire. Then start fresh. considering i paid somewhere around 1500ish for what i have now, to do it show style and custom things out i would need to be ready to drop 5k easy on just the audio and custom enclosures/racks etc. im sure you can bring that down some with some good priced folks and some nice ebay steals..
but be ready to drop that cash for just audio.. im not even talkin about the rest of the car. id say be ready to put another 3k into the car for wheels, some custom door panels and/or dash etc.
all in all i bet if you were REALLY good you could show car it out for 8-10k
but if your paying to have everything done for you and you really want to go big, be ready to have the extras worth more then the retail of your car :D
*im of course talkin about going all out with these numbers :)

I have to agree I was in some big shows just for fun but now, Im gonna start getting into a more competitive attitude. I want to show the car off but I care more about having fun than winning (hence why I'll be auto-xing more than car showing) But you just need to keep the car as clean as possible. 2loud2k2xd's car was spotless inside and out the first time I saw it and his audio install was super clean. You just have to keep the car polished and hide all wires. I'd suggest staying in the mild division as well, it will keep your wallet from fasting.

wild = heavily modded paint/custom paint. fiberglass interior, body kit. along those lines, vert doors, ect.
and thx cornbread. my car was always showroom clean (in and out). now, its not about the "crooked h", but the straight "h". lol

nah, they wont put you in a wild class. only if you have exterior custom paint (airbrush work), vert doors, things like that. i think you should be good man.
if i was you just a nice looking car, fix all dints and getting it showroom conditon then get some nice 18inch mags drop it low. get a full leather retrim custom fibreglass door cards. a nice clean install with a single sub. and all would be sweet.
here is a example of a simple show install. its tib single sub, full leather interior and some nice mags. turns heads too

those alpine amps are sick, they look like professional briefcases, give any install a touch of business like class imo, and that is a nice clean install and entirely doable by just about anything, its all about being maticulous and taking the time..
