Here's pics of our fiber glass box. It's a 12" Alpine in a 1 cubic foot enclosure.http://www.elantraxd.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=6085&d=1176941373

That looks good. Does your plastic hatch cover rattle like crazy? I am still try to think of a way to cover the hatch space but reduce vibrations.

Nice work. If I had a had a hatch it'd be a must to have a molded box.

It sounds really good, a full range of bass!!! I don't have any rattles in the back of the car. Just my license plate.
Winnipeg Rocks for Sunday night cruisin!!!
nice setup, my boy just did that with that same sub in his Cobalt lol.
..after watching him fight with the whole setup, fiberglass etc.. i think ill just stick with my custom boxes in the middle of the trunk lol
but install wise, that looks amazing and realy clean. Also it just makes sense for usability reasons also. Nice work -if you have any pics of the progress that would be realy cool 2!

^ they actually sound the best due to the long wave lengths...actually if you could have it in the rear of your seat and point it backwards...that would almost be optimal...
good work though...not a fan of fiberglass for sq reasons...but looks good non the less!

Sorry, I don't have any pics of the build....It is actually a very solid design, the front of it is 3/4" MDF board with a extra 1/2" where the sub mounts.
^yeah i saw a graphic online of sound waves and how they bounce and why you should have your subs pressed against the rear rear of the trunk as close to the trunk lid as you can and then face them toward the rear. Of course this isnt practical becasue they would block you from getting into the trunk, or if the box moved the subs would have excursion into the rear of the trunk, but it also shows how just facing rear makes a TON of difference from the alternatives.. So leaving them far in the trunk isnt too bad, its just not as good as pushin them to toward the lid.
heres one of the links i saw:

great pic ... i'm thinking how to do the same on my 4 door elantra... i want to have intact my trunk... and this would be the way to do it... on one side amps, on other one big sub ...

I was thinking of doing this as well to my 4 door but am leaning towards adding a 12" sub in the spare tire well and having the amps and capacitor on a rack.
spare tire installs looks awesome and depending on how you do it, can be easier then side wall installs.
someone on here did one as soon as i joined last year and it was Sooo nice.. bu they took it out and sold it for some reason..
if you look at the link i posted im sure the sound waves would be totally weird with an install like that, but who cares. i bet it would look great!

I don't know about the sound wave theory, all I can tell you guy's is that you wouldn't be disappointed. It still makes all the hair on your head tingle and vibrates all the mirrors so that you can't use them. I wouldn't compete with it but it gives me everything I could ask for.
