A buddy of mine might be hooking me up with a box, and amp(Eclipse 3640) and a JL 10W6(or it might be a 10W3, he's not sure, will have to check for me!), and i was wondering if this would make a good setup? I want a sub that sounds nice with deep bass, something that will kick, but not too hard, would this be a good setup? Please keep in mind that i am a n00b in the car audio scene ;)

the eclipse 3640 is a 4 channel amp and its 60x4rms, even bridged that is not going to make a good sub amp. That amp is made to power interior speakers, its best suited for a set of medium draw fronts and rears, or a single set of high draw components (if you bridge it down to 2 channel).

As for the sub, cant go wrong with jl
w3s are awesome ,w6s are amazing

that is not a sub amplifier. made especially for 4 speakers. 60X4 at 2 ohms. not enough and safe to power your sub. i need an amp for my 4 speakers though, will you sale that to me?

I agree with Ugzz as usual....buy the combo, buy another amp for the sub and then use the Eclipse amp for some components. As for JL Audio, I am a total fan! I have two W3 12's which I didn't think would handle the power of a JL E1800, but they pound and never stop.
