The cap is easy. You just connect the positive directly to the battery and the negative grounded to the chasis. And then instead of connecting the amp power directly to the battery, you just connect it directly to the cap positive.

Thats an option... Or you can directly ground the cap on the amp too. Less wires, no need for separate ground and you definitely won't get a ground loop.

dont forget to charge the cap, some caps dont have the slow charge circuit, read the instructions for yours and see if you can just hook it up like that or if you need to charge it first.

some of the less $ caps wont slow charge and your not supposed to just hook em right up, so you have to grab a lightbulb from somewhere in yer car (or any extra 12v bulb) and hold the hot to one side and the other side to the top of the cap, when the light goes out, the cap is charged and you can hook it up. A bulb is just what i use cause i lose the little special bulbs that come with those caps. If you got one with the cap, use it!

im in pittsburgh, but thats far enough that im lazy.. wanna drive to pitsburgh, ill help you out! :D

yeah, some caps come with a tiny little charger that is essentially a small 12v light bulb. they trickle the power into the cap so its not Slammed with 12v of power all at once. Older and cheaper caps have a real problem when you do that. (or so the manuals say) As far as exp goes i had an old 35$ pyramid cap a few years back that helped with my dimming before i got my yellow top battery isntalled. I did it right and all was well, but when i re-did the system i just pluged it in and it didnt really seem to work at all. so i just discharged it and re-charged it the right way and it seemed to be working agin.. but since it was not digital or anything i couldnt really be sure, and it waso nly 1f and didnt help all that much cause my dimming was HUGE, so it made it go from huge to slight. lol but still noticeable.. anyway im ramblin again :)
