i was only able to get 1 run in and 2 0-60 runs. my 1/4 was 16.3@89 and my 2 0-60's were both in the 8's i have horrible wheelspin. i need to find out what is the best RPM to launch my car.

Might want to invest in two new front tires before finding an ideal launch RPM my man.

my best 0-60 on stock wheels / tires was 6.9 !

the trick is to lauch at 3500 rpms and spin hard through first and quick-shift 2nd gear as fast as you can...

that is... push the clutch pedal in, then shift the gear as hard as you can then quickly release the clutch, you DO NOT release the gas pedal, if you do this right, you will only slightly tip the rev limiter between gears and that shouldnt damage anything in the trans since you are using the clutch the right way...

:)

also, you need to reduce the weight transfer to the rear wheels... my suggestion is to use some metal spring clamps and revere them ... basically you use them as spring restrictors... :) you use two clamps on each side on the rear springs.

now... drive that thing harder and dont re-post until you have a 15.xx second run !!!!!!!!! :)

why in the world would you want to spin hard through the 1st gear??? that doesn't make any sense.... ford if you went to the track and compared your 0-60' times with launching at 2300rpms and 3500rpms you would not be tellin him to launch at 3500rpms....

agreed... in regards to elapsed time... 1/4 mile performance is better with a lower rpm launch... but 0-60 time is better with slightly higher rpm launch... that is my experience...

lastly, in regards to wheelspin and gtech times....
, the gtech pro has a pre-programmed initial roll-out time factored into the results.. that means that you cannot skew the results by launching at a higher or lower rpm... also, it doesnt matter how much wheelspin you have on your launch... the g-tech will still display the actual 0-60 time ... (dont confuse this explanation with wheelspin in relation to 0-60 time, i'm only talking about inital roll-out time here..)...

Wouldn't both benefit the most from launching at that perfect rpm where acceleration is in perfect balance to tire grip? I want to try one of these G-tech things, I know what I run at the track, I'm interested in how they compare.

that sounds like a good idea, you can buy them NEW on ebay for $50.

Its agreat price for a very useful tool.

Using this tool you can learn where your best launch rpm is and such... thats what I did.
