Bought one of them today along w/ a new Type R 12" Alpine sub. Tryin to understand the rubber rings that came w/ the box. For behind the sub (between sub and box) or what? Box came w/ 2, so did the sub. Also got the HD headunit up and running. The sound is freaking incredible! Anyway, help w/ the rings would be great!:)

yup, rings go between the box and the inner sub woofer surround.
oh and i had 2 type E's and loved them. well, they were great for the price. plus i had a trunk back then.
if they have large plastic woofer covers done use em.. they vibrate.. its pretty well known that almost all of the qlogics with the big gawdy plastic speaker grills vibrate like hell.. so i would just either run it without the grill or get a grill elsewhere... as far as construction, havnt seen many probs, a box is a box and they seem to be think walled enough for even beefier subs so im sure it will be fine. -also many prefabs of diff brands give you that rubber piece, its a pita to install but it helps with the seal so use it if you can. if not its not the end of the world.. just make sure your screws are in tight and you dont have leaks..
also since the face of the qlogics isnt especially think i would put in the screws by hand (or use a drill with one of those mechanisms that stops the rotation when they start pushing too much force.. damn i forget what there called and my drill has one! lol) so you dont strip out the box.. if you do you can fill it with wood glue (if you blew threw tape off the back of the hole!) and let it dry and re-screw..
hehe this is prolly all tmi.. but its me, what do you expect? :D

Yeah, thanks guys. Talking about the ring that cushions the sub Rob. I used grill screens once when I was like 16. That was almost 13 years ago, haven't used em' since. The other question is about the amp. Its a memphis PRD 1000 mono. At 4 ohms, 300w, at 2 it's 600 and 1 is 1,000w. Is that a peak power reference or RMS. Asking because i'm going from 2 12's to the single alpine w/ an RMS rating of 500w. Just don't want to blow it up!
