hey, i just used fatmat and dampened my entire trunk, i have a pretty bumpin system and the elantra trunk rattles like no other,im installing my system back in tomorrow. i was just wondering if anybody used fatmat or did i f*ck up for not spending the extra money to get dynomat.

p.s. for people who want pics, my camera is in the shop (best buy), sorry

ive used fat mat before. as long as you cleaned all the surfaces with soap and water, then it will work fine. and put some mussle behind it when your installing it, make sure every piece is pushed down good.

Yeah, don't be dissappointed when your trunk still rattles though. Got mine lined w/ Dynamat extreme and it still rattles pretty good.

i ve used fat mat basicly the same results as i ve had with dyno mat. i would suggest that you do under the the rear dash ive you can, that will take out alot of the rattle in the car.

by rear dash you mean where the 6X9s are? and if so, thats where i concetrated the most effort

i have the 4 door sedan and i have mad vibrations from that area, im think of not only dampening that area, but also using dampening around my 6x9 install so they metal base of hte speakers doesne vibrate against the rear deck..

but i still cant seem to find visually decent dampening thats cheap, and i dont want it to look like crap and i cant afford the $$ stuff.. :P

i was wondering, is there any way i can tighten the trunk so it latches tighter. i have been able to get all the rattles out of everywhere, but the damn trunk itself rattles a bit when i got the music past 65%. nothing else rattles, just the trunk lid. any screws i can tighten?

i dynamatted the **** out of my old xd, and even with a weak *** 200.2 watt amp and 2 kicker comps (not even comp vr's), it rattled like ****. i matted the trunk lid, still did it. i came to find out what was making it sound like **** is the OEM plastic spoiler.

the latch itself is adjustable on alot of cars, if thats not, then there should be some rubber stoppers that you can adjust.

every car has one of those two set ups. there needs to be some adjustability.

If you're going to put speakers in your trunk, expect it to rattle.

The car is made out of metal, it's not a speaker box.
