Hey guys. I tried searching online, but didn't find anything... Does anybody know what brand our stock speakers are? I've got the 6-speaker system, and a friend wants one like it, but I don't want to sell mine.

Try looking under CRAP. I can't get the stock one's to sound good w/ the new headunit. If you really want to know just call the dealer parts dept and ask. Good luck!

They are actually made by Hyundai. Some of the Tibs, and higher end Hyundai's have Infinity systems in them. But I have to agree with what bdiggy said, they are pretty much crap speakers from the factory. With the factory head unit, they can sound OK, but if you do replace the head unit, they will sound really bad.

Throw a sub on top of that and the factory speakers really sound like ***! I could get a lot more out of the new Alpine but the stockee's won't allow it.

Yep, OEM speakers are actually made by hyundai. In addition to Infinity, there were also systems (not in Elantras) by Monsoon. Also some Kenwood headunits on a limited number of Elantras.

In general the stock speakers are crap. I replaced all of mine except the front door ones. I hooked up a pair of JBL tweeters to them, and they sound pretty good (I am running about 25 watts to each of them and they really can thump). I don't feel the need to replace mine, but that could also be b/c I got rid of the horrible 6x9's in the rear. Completely stock the system is marginal, and with only a headunit it does not get any better.

Just ditched that HU. I was on my 3rd one from the dealer and that one was all screwy too. Maybe made by Kenwood, but still crap!

Maybe it was in the $3.99 bin at Kenwood. ;)

the stock 6x9 blow easy, even with the stock hu, an aftermarket hu wil murder them.. the front 6.5s actualy have fair bass response and if you tune your system out well enough (with aftermarket hu of course) you can get "OK" sound from the front 6.5s and tweeters.. the rears are total junk and the fronts can only be made "ok" with lots of work.. its just easier to say they are poop and get new ones heh.

As I was first starting to change things, the headunit changed first. I ran that with stock speakers for probably a year-and-a-half and never had a problem with blowing. Of course you have to not be an idiot, and know when things are distorting, turn it down or cut the bass.

I did later change them all to Alpine type-S speakers, but I would say as far as 'normal' stock speakers go, the Hyundai ones were decent (for being the entry OEM sound system, not a factory-upgraded Infinity/Bose/etc).

^ when i say "ok" it means something casue im so picky lol. so as far as oem speakers go id say i liked the fronts.. even in the old j model days i had a wagon apart and the oem front 6.5 was very good quality and had amazing midbass with half decent highs (compared to other oem, not compared to aftermarket). But i still cant say anything good about the 6.9s i mean any install i did i x-overd the rear either with the hu or a tiny amp or even just resisters from rat shack.. but i know at least 2 people with an elantra and 3 people with accents that all have at least 1 rear oem blown out

I had the craptastic cassette deck so I didn't even get the factory tweeters. With the Pioneer H/U turned up the frt's would literally pop at me. The rears would just distort like nothing I'd ever heard. When I pulled the frts, they were only rated at 20W peak. The H/U is pushing 22W RMS.

oh yeah i have no doubt that those oems want like 8-13rms lol.. and the factiry tape prolly only pushes that much heh

5-8 iirc on the tape deck 10-12 peak. It was beyond weak.

Well, although this turned into some sort of "bashing" for the OEM speakers, this guy still wants them (btw, he saw your replies), and can't be persuaded otherwise. I guess I'm just gonna get him some from the local dealer, since I'm not getting new ones (I don't do much mileage with my car anyway, I prefer my bike) since it's not needed. But thanks for the info anyway guys!

For the price of a new OE speaker, you could probabaly buy a nice set of 4.

Check the pay it forward thread, I seem to recall there being some OEM speakers thrown up in there.

Thanks man, but since I'm in Croatia, shipping would be a killer...
Bob, I agree, but he's set on these (no idea why...) and doesn't want some aftermarket ones (guess his kinda weird).

I kow people like that too. Some ofthem are my customers. We had a lady spend $500 to replace her Bose doors speakers on a 18 year old car. Not me.

I have a JVC headunit and stock speakers, and they sound pretty damn good. Far from competition or anything, but sound pretty good. Might be just cause Im not used to high end systems, most of my cars had blown speakers lol all treble no bass or they would make that farting noise! LOL!

As long as you don't overdrive them too badly, they actually sound pretty good with my Pioneer head unit.

Type X ain't gonna fit. When I was looking to upgrade, I looked at the Type X dimensions just for S&G. And, the Type S sound great in my '02 GT hatch. 'course, I've got an Alpine HU, Alpine amps, and Type-S all around (single 10" sub and front/back speakers), so it's pretty well matched. I'm in for the sound quality, not volume.
