So, somehow everyday on my 7-minute drive to and from work, I am either involved in or witness someone with roadrage, or just being an a-hole. A couple weeks ago I saw 2 semi trucks swerving at each other and yelling out the window. I usually avoid these situations by not being in a bad place. If the lane is going to end, I get in the other lane early (had some kid in a Suzuki -whatever their big car is- tailgate me for miles because I beat him off the line to merge over [no, not a streetrace, just merging in traffic]).

So today, I'm on my way home for lunch. I get to the same area where 2 lanes come to a stoplight. Immediately after the stoplight (like 100 yards) the right lane ends. Speed limit is 40mph. I am in the left, per usual. There is a red older Buick in the right lane. He's about 3 car lengths ahead of me, we're both going 40-45, but I was gradually catching up. I slow down so he will have room to move over. As we pass the intersection, he sticks his arm out the window and waves for me to go by. Umm. no. I know my car looks nice, but I'm not going to clear 3 car lengths, plus his car, in 100 yards before I'm sandwiched between him moving over, and oncoming traffic. Thanks for the jester, but I'll let you go first.

So, I stay in my position, let him move over (without a turn signal, surprise) and proceed as a courteous driver. Everybody merges in, no bottleneck, nobody had to mash the gas to get by. For that, he gives me the finger. WTF. I was being nice and letting the guy in. More and more I want to buy BIGFOOT and just drive around looking for idiots and a-holes, so I can make the world a better place.

(sorry nj drivers but...) Welcome to NJ!!! I have experienced this many times while in Trenton or Burlington. One time I had a guy yelling obscenities at me because he had to slow down when I turned off a main street. Maybe the DOT should have a portion of the drivers test devoted to aggressive anger

there are so many places where i live that have the same problem 4 lanes to 2 and 3 to 1 going to the mall...i usually stay in the middle so everyone has to merge behind me.. i know people don't understand why i do it but if they had some common sense they would know that if everyone starts merging one by one instead of trying to beat each other to the first place there would be no bottlenecking

most people are dumb
dumb people can't drive
therefore
most people can't drive

there should be an iq requirement to get a DL of any kind and only the smart ones can get the CDL. those that fail should get shot to avoid confusion and mixups from DMV hopping until they pass

saturn

no, because if we didn't allow dumb people to drive delivery trucks, nothing would ever get delivered, because smart people don't usually work for fedex or UPS (obviously)

(no offense to those who do who are on the forum! you are an exception)

also, we wouldn't have taxis or city busses

(same goes, no offense to smart people! haha)

plus IQ doesn't measure common sense, and driving is mostly common sense. doesn't take a rocket scientist.

Damn right.

What really drives me up the wall are people who think their time is so much more important than everyone else's so they drive up the shoulders at 60mph, cut off people left and right, and run red lights. It's dicks like that that end up killing people.

And I swear, the next time I have a Yukon/Escalade/Excursion/Gas Guzzler no more than 5 inches from my bumper, I'm slamming on those breaks and I'm kicking some ***. I'm sick and tired of people riding my bumper.

funny thing about gas guzzlers!

just the other night i was on my way back from the movies with Sarah and her friend and just as i was going down the main street in town this mercury suv tries to cut us off, but i just kept going and he flipped me off. the rest of the way back to sarah's the guy was inches off of my bumper and i was flooring it just to stay in front of him for a bit. finally when i had to turn i brake checked him and he almost went off the road towards some people doing a bit of night running.

On a daily basis I deal with these egocentric pricks who think they are above the traffic laws because they drive Mercedes/BMW/Jaguar/Lexus/Etc and they will drive 15-20 over the limit, talking away on their cell phones, without using signals. Makes me want to scream.

And if that's not bad enough, I see a minimum of 5 women putting on makeup while driving every day on the way to work.

ha I know what you're talking about ... people don't know how to drive, thay are mostly stupid and irresponsible!

I was once fingered by a guy that nearly run me over when HE passed on a red light ... and I was the one to blame???

I hate tail-gaters with a passion. I has almost hit by some "make-up artist" woman driving a celica b/c traffic "magically" stopped. Glad to hear when you brake-checked that idiot that you were actually turning. Generally, its not a good thing to do, however, if you have a reason for stopping, its not a bad idea. Has anyone tried flash-your-reverse-lights tactic (for manual tranny owners) or the nozzle squirt deterrent?

I've done the nozzle trick a few times on the road, I bought the KDM 3 squirt nozzles and aimed them REALLY high. I hate when people ride your bumper on when there is a red light ahead. WTF is the point. And I'll add another thing to this post. What about when the light is red and people inch closer and closer to you FOR NO REASON!!!

peeve: trying to turn left... light is yellow... 3 more cars floor it to make it through the light, leaving you in the middle of the intersection as opposing traffic gets the green light, making you look like an ***.

When I approach a red light with cars ahead of me, I always stop so I can see the point where their tires meet the pavement. I think that is a safe/courteous stopping distance. I hate it when people stop behind me at a light and I can only see their wipers they are so close.

One reason I use the "tires meet the pavement" is because if some retard rear-ends me, I'm far enough back that I'm not going to get slammed into the car in front of me ... because I would be liable for the damage to their car.

I've had people be courteous to me and wave me ahead or something like that and often times I won't do it because I consider that they might just slam into me and claim the insurance because they had the right of way.

Are you sure it was the finger? Sometimes it can be hard to tell.

But, you are probably right.

How do you do that in an XD? Or do you have to have the hatchback? In my Wrangler I had the line for fluid and no rear wiper so I set it up so it pointed out the back and could go a good 10ft. It was awesome.

I had a guy cuss me out in the Dairy Queen parking lot because I wanted to park and his fat *** was parked in the middle of the drive.I just waved to him to move and out of nowhere I was a no good MF'er and screamed at me to get out of the car, which I did and his wife was all like "come on get back in the GD car" All of this in front of about 6 lil kids.I laughed at him and went on.I swear im goin to get a beach cruiser bike and just ride aroud town on that.I don't even drive around anymore for fear of my life. It's like 85% of the drivers around here should not be behind the wheel of a moving vehicle. What the hell ever happened to common sense?

people suck. thats just how things are nowadays. thats why now i just cruise in the slow lane at 60 and let them go.

on my way down to VA this past weekend i had people constantly running up on my *** on 81 because i was doing 70 (5 over the posted limit) even though i was in the right lane. i would flip off the cruise when they ran up on my *** and let the car slow down to the speed limit. then when i did let them pass i waved lol

same kinda thing happened on the way up. i was going 5 over in the right lane (try doing the limit on 81) and some *** was flying up and flipped his highs are me like he expected me to clear out of his way because he was in a lexus. they should just give me a gun and a badge and i'll weed out bad drivers lol

Around here I always get off the gas to coast up to red lights in the hope they will change. Works more than not, too. I love how some idiots in big SUV's always whip past me, try to cut me off, then come to a dead stop at the same light. What usually happens is I'm still moving at about 15 mph and get the jump on them at the light, since they're stopped. And then how they floor their Explorer/Equinox/Tahoe/etc. to repeat the same thing at the next light 1/4 mile down the road. And people wonder why gas prices are so high.

i think that if we destroy all SUVs and go back to mini vans people would be happier with lower gas prices. the mini van that i want, gets a few more mpg than my parents' explorers

Which van is that? Almost two years ago my parents bought a 2005 Odyssey (newly redesigned) that had the v6 with thier VCM (variable cylinder management). My mom usually gets around 22-23 in mostly city driving, and on trips we have seen 27 mpg ([old] epa 20\28). Not to mention that a nicely equipped version costs thousands less than a similar large SUV. Most vans telnd to get about 17\24 last time I checked (which is still better than most SUV's I would think).

Hey, Jim...you wanna weed out bad drivers that tailgate you? Get a small electric oil pump, a pipe with some holes drilled in it at strategic intervals and some switches and tubing...when people tailgate you, instant oil slick. That oughta remove a few idiots from the gene pool.

Its a little less illegal than just shooting them...because it could be attributed to mechanical failure if it was concealed well enough.
