The front/rear lip and sideskirts are muy bueno! You should post a DIY on them so I can make a set for mine (also pewter GLS) Very very nice! Only thing you need is a 25% tint all the way around, use silver metal film so it isn't really transparent.(Not the totally silver stuff though that is waaay ghetto)
Check the archive for his posts on the lip kit, tint would look very nice but don't use the film stuff that will be out of style sooooooo fast.

25% tint....go w/20%!!! Nice ride!! Are you going to continue to add more stuff? what is next on your list......you are probably going to work on the sante fe, right?

A few new pics over the weekend, following getting it back from the hood repair/repaint. The eyelids have been repainted with them to be an exact match now. Looked great before, but 10x better now.

It's the EXD Etched Glass Decals, placed on a plain chrome plate. The plain chrome plates ran me $15 each on Ebay - plus a box of bandaids, those things had damn sharp edges -lol.
As for my signature, I wanted something smaller. It looks ok in 1280x1024, if someone has a hard time seeing the pictures, I guess it's just motivation to click the link to see more.

I read the whole thread and searched for the DIY about your lip kit and couldn't find anything. I'm just curious; where do the side skirts come from? are the back pieces from a 90's Accord? and Is the front lip from a Legacy?
hyunelan2
12-23-2004, 03:18 PM
it was on the old EXD, so you would have had to search the archive. Here's the link: http://www.elantraxd.com/yabbse/index.php?board=8;action=display;threadid=8349 And as for the parts, Side skirts = 93 Grand Am, 2 door. Rear = mid90s accord. Front = 95 Mercury Mistique. The pics on the link are pre-spoiler, and pre-exhaust tip - which both make the car a lot better, IMO.

thanks for the link. I'd been looking at the accord piece for a while but it looks different than I thought it would. I have another part in mind though, I won't bite off yours. Looks good though, especially with the spoiler.

Looks great Hyunlan2,
How are those door sills working out? Just ordered some. Do they scratch easy? May put some 3M clear on mine. Any plans on doing anything else? 'Cause you know the wife will beat you if you start modding that Sant Fe. Eh?
hyunelan2
12-28-2004, 10:57 AM
The door sills haven't had a problem. No scratches, not even on the driver's door. I don't know what's in my plans. I probably won't be adding anything else, just changing (like different fog lights, or different trim pieces). I would like to do some interior upholstry too, but that takes time and patients - neither of which I have much of lately.
I'm open to suggestions from anyone. I know lowering would be the first thing people yell out, however, I don't really want it lower. If I did it would only be Eibachs.
I don't anticipate too much $$ going towards the Elantra at this point. I'm pretty happy with it. I'll probably put that mod money towards my new garage, or put it in a Jar for the next 2 years to put towards a 3.3L Sonata... can't let my wife have the bigger engine (2.7L Delta in the SF).

Were you going to tint your windows?
Speaking of Fog lights -- (because my patience is thin as well) Is there any easier way to install? I mean it took me forever to get the OEM piece out, now I am dreading to put fog lights.

Anyway, I'm back... on the modding groove anyway. My Eibach Springs are in the hands of UPS. I'll be ordering KYB struts soon. I've got a long list of things to get done this mod season and need to sort through them. I plan on:
1st of course will be putting the Rims and Hankooks back on, along with my lip pieces and chrome 'rice' exhaust tip.
New Brakes (Replacing Rear with OEM, Slotted Rotors and good pads up front)
Tinting rear and back-side windows
debating getting dreamka lip for front bumper to replace the one I have now
adding hatch tails to sedan trunk (if i can find the damn things)
CAI - finally
Optima Yellow Top
Small things like chrome tweeter grills, blue mirrors
I also have a full set of front door panels I'm trying to figure out what to do with.
I'm thinking exhaust is gettin pushed until next year. Last year was rims/lip 'kit'/audio/interior phase 1. This year is suspension and misc. appearance, so that might consume my time/money for this season.
Car season runs from April 1 - October 31 for me. The other 5 months my car looks a lot like other Elantras.
I did some figuring and decided that 2 car payments suck. So, I want to hold onto the Elantra until I get the Santa Fe paid off, (2009, damn). That inspired me to get back 'into' the car, since I know I'm going to have it a while.

Finally got the Eibach Springs and KYB stuts installed. The rears were a PITA due to uncooperative nuts on the swaybar connections. Fronts took about 45 mins a piece, rears took about 2 hours for the pair.
Here's some pictures from today following the install. It won't be long before I rip the front lip off the car... already looking into other options. Also, I just got back from a bug-killing adventure... the car was actually washed last night.

Only a lip kit. I personally don't like full bumper replacement kits. Only 'ground effects' type kits for me. (at least what's available for the Elantra right now, just isn't my flavor).
..then again I also said I'd never lower the car....

How many inches did you drop it?
hyunelan2
04-09-2005, 11:23 PM
Eibach says it's a 1.0" drop front and rear. I haven't measured them, but I would guess that's about right... maybe SLIGHTLY more than 1.0 by appearance.

It looks like it lowers it more in the front than in the rear. Same as mine. That's good though because in stock form the wheel gap is bigger in the front and now it's even. Looks great.

hey hyun, what kind of tip is that on your exhaust? do you have a better rear shot showing the tip?
LOL. I never, ever thought I'd be asked about that. I had to get that when I failed to notch out a part of the lip I put on the back... it melted and I had to cut out an area.
Then it looked stupid, so I went and bought your average garden-variety ricer-tip from walmart. I think it cost $9.96 and mounts by slipping it over your stock tailpipe and tightening a bolt on either side.
I just looked through all my car pictures and it doesn't appear that I have any. The good thing about the way it mounts is you can slide up and down the tailpipe to make it stick out more or less.

Hi Hyunelan2,
Your car looks smooth and tight.
Did you get the gauges with the green background, or you changed the color? I got mine with the red lighting, and I will need to change it to blue or green as red does not match with anything else...

Hyunelan2,
The lip parts that you got for $20, I am assuming you went to a bone yard where you had to take them off. Which bone yard cause most of the ones around chicago, they pull the stuff off , I wanted to go scavenging. Thanks
hyunelan2
11-25-2005, 05:54 PM
I went to I-55 Auto Salvage (just outside of Joliet). I just told them what I was doing, and said I wanted to go around a measure and see if there's any parts that will work for me, and they let me. I know a lot of the junkyards are not letting people 'wander' much anymore - 1. because of safety/liability issues, and 2. because it's a whole lot easier for people to 'pocket' items when they go around the yard themselves.

Ok, so it's getting warm out, I put my rims, tires, grille, trim, etc. on yesterday, and I got the 'bug' to do something to my car. Nothing drastic (expensive), just something minor. I was considering maybe a set of the side-marker-turn-signals, or window tint. Be aware that if I do tint, I'll be keeping it legal (which is no tint on front windows in IL). Any thoughts on this, or suggestions about some other inexpensive mods?
SuperGLS
04-03-2006, 09:07 PM
Mike, if you get tint and don't match the front to the back I'll have to make a drive to see you.
Other inexpensive mods? I don't know, you do need some GT seats though.
