This year will be my first year autocrossing with the SCCA.
Can anyone answer a couple of questions for me...
1.) How do I select numbers for my vehicle (I am planning on getting a magnetic sign made with all the required info)
2.) What info do I need to include in my number...class, number etc....
3.) Whatever other basics I need to know....
Any assistance is greatly appreciated...and thanks in advance!
Peace,

I don't have an answer but I've got a question also.
In the regulations it states you need to have your battery securely tied down (without use of bungee cords or similiar) but where can I get a battery cover or something that will secure the battery? Or is just the oem set up alright?
Sorry I didn't mean to hijack the thread.

Good question...add that to the rest above...

OEM setup is fine. As long as there is no moevement and it cannot come out.
As for numbers, i MYSELf made enough to be able to change on site. A pair of 3's and a pair of 5's for each side gives me lots of OPTIONS.
Get there early. Walk the course alot. Find a member there that looks seasoned and ask if you can walk with them. There are plenty of people willing to help novices like us.
Over inflate the tires. Street tires will tend to roll over onto the sidewall if not. PErsonally, I start at 45 and work down from there.

^ What Bob said.
Also, you can save a lot of money if you buy magnetic material by the foot and cut out your numbers yourself...

Or do like I did and got to Wal-Mart and buy the Magnetic Vent covers that come in a 2-pack for $2.87. THey're 6"x18" white magnetic strips. We (wife moreso) cut the numbers out of one pair of sheets and stenciled the STS on the other sheet by itself. Total cost $6.08 plus an hour watching TV with the wife.

I don't know which would be worse.
Shame on you, MonkeyMoFo!!

numbers are chosen by you. it's basically whatever numbers are available. once you start using a number it's on the list and no one else can use it unless it (for some reason) gets removed from the list of drivers. if you want to change, it's no problem. numbers are just so they can easily refer to your car regardless of class. interchangeable magnets = good idea.
