I'm probably going to paint my car in the next month or so. Since the stock paint is so crappy. I'm not sure whether I should stick with a plain glossy black, or with a metallic black. What does everyone think? I was also debating a metallic dark platinum, but my car looks so nice in black. I wish I knew how to post a poll.

I liked that matte (I think that is what it is called) black that was on that Chrysler Pacifica that was posted once.

EDIT- This one. Is that black of gray? Either way I like it and that's what I'd suggest.

I recommend going with metallic. It makes the car look more expensive and will be more shiny in the sun.
Flat colors can be mistaken for primer. :)

HOT PINK bowling ball swirl. YOU WON'T lol. The flat on that pacifica is definately hot ish. If you are dumpin the money into it anyway why not go with a color that the XD is not offered in to make it stand out more

I like that hot pink bowling ball swirl. That's a color the XD doesn't come in.

Seriously though... I want to stick with my theme and do some form of darkish grey or black. Maybe a 2-tone car would look nice. It'd be more expensive but would look nice. I guess it's time to whip out photoshop and do some chops.

I've wanted to 2-tone my car for a long time - I hope you do, I'd love to see it done.

When I was looking at paints, I visited various dealers to take a look at paints up close. There is a black paint by Acura that has a touch of red or blue pearl on it (I can't remember the car it was on now).....it's really really sharp. Stop by your local dealers and just take a look at some - it's alot of research to find the right paint, so take your time and be aware of other black cars around you when you are driving and try to remember their names. Also keep in mind, a custom color, like that matte black pictured on the Pacifica is 1. hard to come by, 2. difficult to match in the first place, but difficult to touch up your car unless you have a little paint left over. Also try to stay away from multi stage paint jobs, those are even more difficult to touch up. IMO I'd do metallic rather than flat - it just looks so much better.

Saturn had a color back in the mid-90s that I always liked... it was black with gold metallic in it. I think they called it Blackgold. Something like that might look cool.

I think I might look into that black paint with a touch of red. It will definitely cost more and be harder to touch up though.
