I agree with keyan, if you don't have it get it. Don't forget to also get the metal endlinks if you have the white plastic ones now.

so getting that would be better that say the CAI or SRI i was also mabey thinking about a new exaust like a magnaflow mufler with custom piping and mabey getting some headers. i can do all the work myself(cutting bending and welding) so im sure i could pull it off for less than 150

I would say get the CAI first. Swaybar isn't the end of the world like most people say. I didn't feel that big of a difference. I think people online make it sound like a bigger thing than it really is, lol.
My buddy was passing mazdaspeeds and srt4's on the road racing event he attended to in his elantra, with just a CAI, and struts and springs, and a header. rest of the exhaust was stock. that's all.

If it's a manual get the TWM short shifter.
atlwteboy240
05-29-2007, 09:26 PM
thats what i was thinking about getting was the shifter but then i decided to just cut some off the top of mine im also thinking about a way to lengthen the bottom of it. i have really good welding skills so this wouldnt be any proublem for me. also would filling the motor mounts help since i dont have the sway bar? sorry but im sure this has been discused but since im already asking ?'s is there any parts that will fit from any other car? i mean CAI(i know accord) exaust, gears anything that would be cheaper to buy than for a hyundai.

Stuff for Hyundais is already pretty cheap. Go with something that works and fits.
With $200 I'd buy something cool like chrome/KDM headlights. CAIs aren't very exciting and neither are rear sway bars.

I still want to know, after reading this whole thread, what kind of amp you plan on getting for 50 bucks?!

Go with a shifter. It will cost you less in labor and patience to go ahead and buy a short shifter.
If you are against a shifter, I am like everyone else here... CAI

What you may think is not crap may actually be crap. Unless he is stealing this stuff, he can't possibly get you anything that isn't crap for only $50. Even at wholesale price, a quality amp will be much more than $50.
Vote me in for CAI. But it really depends on what you are going for. If you are going for performance more than looks, I say CAI to start. I wouldn't bother with a sway bar until it's lowered.

I actually noticed a big difference. When I first dropped it, everytime I turned a corner, even under normal driving, the rear would rub even with no one in the back. I immediately ordered the sway bar and the problem went away.

Well, get the amp, $50, then the CAI, ebay for $40, then scrape up an extra $10 and you'll have enough for the shifter. So it comes to $210. Is that really gonna break the bank?
EDIT: Got this reply in after the 2 above. Wouldn't you want to fix the exterior befor you sex up the engine bay?

If you get an amp, will you even have subs to go with it? Or are you amplifying the interior speakers?

yeah i already have the sub and the box already. im not new to she audio world jsut the moding world. i never did anyhting to it besides system rims and exaust. but that was a old chevelle so thats compleetly diffrent.

That's because you have a GT. If you drove a stock GLS sedan, you would pour gas on it and light it up.

Option 2. Hear about the quality on these from everyone here that has em' installed. Believe you can get an idea of the look from Munky's sig.

Road racing is mostly about the driver! I was talking to a subaru guy around here and they went to Mecaglisse, they invited some guy with a 2002 Corolla with good tires and coilovers, nothing else, within 20 minutes he had lapped all of them including a few wrx's....... I'm sure your friend must have some skill or the others were absolute noobs.

05-30-2007, 02:45 PM
Yeah let's just say my buddy has quite a bit of skill, he used to own a full race 850whp probe back in the day before he got caught doing about 250 on the highway and that was the end of the dream, lol.
BTW this guy with the corolla, is it black with a bodykit on it?
mregt02
05-30-2007, 07:47 PM
nope, the corolla is purple-ish, it's a stock color from toyota and has no body kit. You wouldn't expect a car that looks like that to get driven so well but he does it.

Instead of getting 1 big thing, you have another possibility, like getting many little things.
Front Strut Bar: $68 - $85
Do the TB bypass mod (if you haven't already)
Definitely the CAI: ebay for $40, can't beat it.
Hell, you could do all three with no problem. You'd have a different car when you were done.
If you were asking about the DIY for the shifter, I believe the one that's up there is for custom making your own by cutting the shifter arm.
However, I've installed 7 of them, all in Elantras. I'd be more than happy to walk you through it. It does take some patience, and a little finesse with a couple of pieces, but it's real easy, and only takes about 45 minutes or so.

well somehow i lost track of my spending and now i only have $43 im not sure how i did it i know i spent 50 on a new box 40 on my amp and 40 for the wiring kit so thats 90 got some new spark plugs for 10 =100 10 in gas 10 for bootlegs=120 i can account for all of it but about 20 so i think im just gonna do the CAI. imalso gonna get some clutch fluid and take out that little valv in the clutch cyclnder.

Anyways I would recommend most of the cheap to free stuff so far. The biggest difference for me was the CAI. Granted it should make your mpg go up but for awhile it will go down because you just want to hear it growl ;)

What happened to the Chevelle? i want one... lol
there are tons of inexpensive mods you can do...
but an Intake or New Muffler can make a nice pair for under $150..
if your car has substantial mileage...
Spark Plugs and Plug Wires can be had for less than $150..
add some DIY Ground wires for another $30...
HID headlight kit off ebay for $130 or so.....
SpiderLite LED Tailights for around $80 a pair...

:hand: :hand: :hand: :hand: :hand:
well the chevelle!!!!!ok the story. we was at the drag strip testing the new super charger we put on and some how about at the 60ft the rear main seal blew. so needless to say the back tires got soaked with royal purple so the rear end went left i guess when the tires spun it burned off the oil because it caught some traction and before i could get out of the gas i was already in the wall. since it wasnt a street car we didnt have insurance. so there for we couldnt afford to re build so we parted out the body that was left and sold the motor/tranny to a guy who put it in a old 57 BEL AIR. the only thing i have left is the key chain and a modle that i built and painted to look exactly the same as the real deal. we set it on top of the car when we took it to a show. ill post some pics in a min.

just got finished with the plugs and wires. finished my system but it still dosent sound right so i think im about to get a sealed box. does anyone have one for a 12 they want to trade for my ported one? does the ground wires really make that much of a diffrence?? and i already have the LED taillights but now i cant even afford the intake or anything.

ok heres the deal i got my system working but the **** dosent sound right i swiched from the ported box to a sealed one. still nothing. hooked the speaker up at 2ohms 4ohms and now at 8 ohms. briged the amp and not briged and nothing. still wont work right . it works but dosent sound right im about to take it to the shop and give them $10 to look it over and if i have to have them fix something theyll put that 10 in towrd the price for me. but anyways heres the pics. the modle looks exactly like my old chevelle allthe way down to the rims and hood. theres also one of my sub in the box. and the key chain thats the suvenier(?) from the chevelle

I'm not so sure you'd notice a difference per se. The difference is significant in the grand scheme of things, yet numbers wise, it's not. The result of doing this is that the air entering the IM is not heated up by coolant that runs through the TB. The reason it runs through the TB is to warm up the butterfly valve inside in cold weather. It has been proven that it doesn't affect cold weather starting or anything like that, so it's totally safe.

Do you know the recommended mounting space for your sub? Maybe the box is too small. That would deff. put an underpowered sound into your system. That or inadequate wiring kit, or a $40 amp! What did you end up using for an amp?
atlwteboy240
06-02-2007, 12:23 AM
the amp if a fosgate amp and when i bought it from my buddt he had it hooked up to 2 audiobahns and they were beating like crazy so i dont under stand. but at the same time im running off the stock headunit with a little box that connects to the speaker wire from the headunit and changes to a RCA imput for the amp so im thinking that mabey the RCA isnt giving enough power to the amp so im about to put in the cdplayer i have as soon as i get the wiring harness for it.

06-02-2007, 12:28 AM
That shouldn't be the problem though. Usually, if the converter causes any problems, it's engine noise coming through the sytem (i.e., you hear the reving of the engine through your sub). I don't know man. Try to talk to Rob (Ugzz) about it. He's pretty good w/ audio stuff. Him or 2Loud. Good luck!

and also i noticed a noise in the last few days . every time i get in my car and shut the door hard i rear a ringing. kinda like the echo you hear when you hit two hollow pipes together. you know the kind a tuning fork makes? it last for a few seconds and then stops. and ive noticed static in the speakers when i touch the volume knob but that should stop with the new headunit.
