car fire...

1am saturday night/sunday morning, i get a call from my dad, telling me my brothers car caught fire...first thought, is wtf? said he was on the highway, heard a pop, got off at his exit, and about 10 seconds later a guy comes up yelling that his car is on fire

firewall did its job perfectly, engine bay is destroyed, rest of the car from firewall back is fine. dad said that the firemen said 40 min after the fire was out, it was still smoking...he said the fireman said they cut the line to the battery, and it stopped instantly, leading them to believe the battery exploded

****ty part, since my bro wasnt paying for his insurance like he was supposed to, my dad put the minimum on it (liability/collision, i believe), and has no comp...which means the 4k they paid for the car 6-7 months ago, and the transmission he just paid like 300$ for + install a couple months ago, is gone. hes still trying to decide if he wants it in his garage and try to part it out, or if its going to the junkyard

nothing aftermarket at all.

james - my other brother had the gold xd, but he hasnt had that for probably a year now. he rear ended someone, and then the person behind him slammed into him and did enough extra damage to total the car out

And it certainly does look like the battery caused the fire, or at least a short or something in that area. That sucks man.
