Ok, so i did an exhaustive search at about 2 am and have yet to find a definitive answer. I am looking to do some exhaust mods. I'm thinking I will have cat back bent at a shop for me but this is where I am stuck... From what I have read thus far, dynomax or magnaflow is the muffler of choice. That's all fine and good, I want that kind of sound, But I actually prefer the look of a neatly installed fart can. Is there a happy medium?

Put a couple resonators before the muffler to quiet it down?

I too am a big fan of the neat fart can.
If you put in the right resonator, the fart can will sound great. with the wrong resonator or no resonator... your in for a world of hurt. It's also a bad plan to run that kind of setup without a cat.

I have a magnaflow and it looks like a cannon. But is chambered, so it doesn't fart much.

How is it you kids do it these days. . . Fart can = the suck.
Fart cans never sound good, no matter how many resonators you install it's still a fart can. Plus it carries the beautiful stigma off "Silly ricers, trash cans are for trash".
And the Oxymoron of the day goes to :

"Neat fart can" theory. Nice. . .

:abovelol: :abovelol: :abovelol: That is freakin' hysterical. I've heard neat and fart in the same sentance before but not when it was pertaining to car exhaust.;)

You could do what I am doing next month.
Magnaflow 9"x4" oval muffler
eBay canister
The Magnaflow is a 3-chamber muffler that I am mounting under the car like a resonantor. Then the fart can for aesthetc reasons, and to resonate the deep sound of the Magnaflow. I am also puttng Magnaflows high-flow cat in as well.

I've found with a good silencer and with wrapping the cat back exhaust with header wrap that the "fart can" design on the KORE catback sounds fine. I would have prefered to run with a multi-chamber muffler, but the fart can came welded onto the KORE exhaust.
I think if you get an adequately sized "fart can" and a long enough silencer pipe it'll sound fine.

You can get some mufflers from Magnaflow that look like the "fart can" style, but are still chambered. Mine has a nice rolled 3.5" tip, but is still chambered. It is the best of both worlds... polished stainless and not insanely loud.
Good luck.
