Well I bought myself a new project. It is a 1985 GMC Caballero. It is equipped with a SB 4 bolt main 350 and a 350 turbo trans. It needs a paintjob and the usual small block mods.
As soon as I get her tagged (tomorrow),the turbo is coming off of the Tib and she will be converted back to a reliable DD
Here is a pic of her

Monte Carlo SS Front clip. Roll pan in the back and Tinted windows she'll be one sweet ride. I'm so jealous right now. My cousin has had one sitting at his house for over 10 years now and has done nothing with it. it only has 23,000 original miles on it. It was originally owned by our grandfather and he was real meticulous with his cars.

The turbo will probably be coming off within a few weeks.I will be tagging the GM historic (yay!) so therefore I will be removing all of the smog equipment, installing a dualplane intake, headers, probably 3 in dual exhaust,a 292 cam and the list goes on and on

If you're going duals, don't go any bigger than 2.5". You'll shoot yourself in the foot on torque. Also, unless you are planning on a strip only car that is unstreetable, try going for a 268-272 cam with about a .490 lift. Throw on a set of Vortec cast iron heads and intake and enjoy that 350hp and 400ftlbs of tq.

^agreed. 292 cams is INSANE

but since you have a sweet project giving me a ride in it every once adn a while is a requirement!

I said 292 because it all depends on the manufacturer.I seen a 292 cam that had a .488 lift.Thats about what I would want.I have been searching thru summit and jegs making a wish list lol.On a bad note, the previous owner somehow managed to get the radiator cap lodged on very tight.I still havent got it off yet.I need to break out the channel locks.I snapped off the nipple for the overflow tank :( .Now I get to test out my new propane torch :) This project has started off on the wrong foot lol. There is supposed to be a guy right down the street from me that has a aluminum intake for sale for like 50 bucks.Im goin to talk to him this weekend

Quick suggestion: Put together a specific list of EXACTLY what you're looking for in performance. THen find out what you need to achieve it. THEN go look for parts

I started that last night.I went thru a whole lot of back issues of Car Craft magazines and seen proven hp set-ups.I may go by them lists of parts to get the numbers im looking for.I've been out of the game for way too long. Now I need to scrape off the crud on the block to get the numbers off of it to find out exactly what it came out of.I know for a fact that the heads are off of a pre 78 block because of the straightness of the bottom edge of them.

I actually need to take the headers back because they are wrong. The carb is a 600 cfm unit, the cam is a .420/.442 lift cam, intak is the performer eps non egr and the valve covers are for show. Also forgot to take a pic of the Edelbrock 14" chrome air cleaner and BowTie shaped nut :)
