I'm away for a conference... wanted a compact, just cuz... smallest thing they had was an Impala. Man it's a boat... it's supposed to have a 211 hp v6, but the car must be super heavy cuz it's pretty slow.
Rear seat leg room isn't that great, which is probably why the trunk is absolutely HUGE.
Not having fun driving this boat, although it seems less floaty than the last generation Camry I last rented.

I seriously doubt chevy's HP numbers. If my colorado really had a 225 HP I5...then why did they up it .2 liters after market research. 225 HP is a nice number...but the motor doesn't even feel close. That and it has some kind of rev limiter that keeps you from gunning it hard. It sucks

I like the '02 Impala I drive for work. Of course, it's a police interceptor version, so I'm not sure that's the same. It seems to have guts.

Turn off the traction control. It gets alot quicker. My dad has one and in a straight line that 3.5L is good. Unfortunately it's made to be a comfy freeway cruiser not a cornering beast.

When I was in high-school, I rented a 98 Escort...had that thing on two wheels. So I have to agree....rental cars are really beat on.

I agree. My impala off the line does pretty good.corning high speeds it blows.High speed sucks cause my elantra gets it on the top by like 20 mph befor the gov. kicks in.The limitor kicks in at 107 but when it does kick on it's smooth and does not jolt foward like most cars do.Not to mention I can hit 60 in first gear befor it shifts to 2nd.

I was looking at a police impala when I bought my elantra
went with the elantra because it had better standard features and because the police impala had holes everywhere from where they had removed all of the police equipment... it did still have the awesome push bar though :]
