View Full Version : Alpine Developments Delivery Time Sucks!

I might as well make it official -- I ordered the Alpine MP45 based Beta II kit.

So some time in the future I will be joining the F/I Elantra people.

I ordered it in spite of the comments that there have been problems with Alpine Developments. I had very good luck getting my questions answered about the kit before I ordered it, and very slow replies (and have been waiting a while for my kit) now that they have my $.:(

I ordered the on May 11th from Import Shark and it is still not here. Import Shark confirmed that Alpine had the order on April 15th.

I was told in an earlier email from Alpine that the door to door time should be around 14 days. It's now been 24 days since Alpine confirmed receipt of the order with no end in sight. :(

Last time I spoke with John at Alpine on thursday May 31st, he told me that he didn't even have the Eaton MP45 Supercharger unit from Magnuson yet! :(

I should have listened to you guys. I wouldn't be so upset if I knew going into the order process that it would take a month or more to get the kit. But when I specifically asked how long it would take and was told 14 days, then not to have it for at least 10 days past that date pisses me off.

Welcome to the club man

I guess that's what forums are for: to listen to what people say and not get thrown into the craphole with them.

Hopefully you and all the others will learn something from this story ;)

Sorry to say this man, but you probably won't see the kit for another month or two.

Also I feel when you get the unichip, after installation take it to a professional shop and get it tuned. I have a feeling all the guys with the unichip on this board are frying their crank position sensors because of the settings being wrong in the unichip.

I'd also look into alternative fuel delivery, it's been known that the fuel being delivered BEFORE the super charger corrodes the screws of the supercharger and over time can lead to boost leak in the supercharger itself or no boost at all.

nah.

just burn the unichip

ill be doing that at our meet (with video)

Dude, you shoulda waited for NGM even if it is goin to be another 6 months. You could have let the money accrue interest or save it up if you used credit.

you should put a stop payment, should have 30 days to do it, and tell them when they get their heads out of their asses, and youll be more than happy to buy it if/when its actually gonna get to you

I agree. The whole "We're waiting on this or that" has gotten old.....so old it's in a retirement home.

Everythread I see now is like that and the same with the payment. quick to answer serious inquiries but a little slow on response time when money is actually put out.

I am trying real hard to stay neutral with alpine but these threads dont do them any justice.

They just keep shooting themselves in the foot. Hopefully the aftermarket for s/c isuzu's (sp) or toyotas will keep them afloat b/c between their customer service here and NT, I dont think any Noob will feel confident buying from them.

It's a shame too cause dmdicks has been the one holding them and the forums together until recently.

Oh well, I guess we'll see.

G/L with your issues.

(BTW - It's Friday night so take my post with a bag full of salt :D )

This is why im glad I got my kit from a guy who already did the waiting. After he sent the kit out it was to my house in just over a week.

Good luck with the deal and congrats on the purchase.

Haha.

Hope you don't mind the wait, because you'll be making a lot of flame threads once you realize how crappy the alpine-engineered product really is.

...give them time that way everything is done right the first time... Good point.

As far as the tuning, as long as the car runs OK with the S/C and Alpine tuned Unichip, I'll be happy. I'm not looking to get 200+ WHP.

I've got a line on some different belts (Gates and Goodyear Gatorback) that should help with belt slipping issues. I'll have to wait until I see what the belt number that comes with the kit is. We'll see...

Let us know man, can't wait to see what will happen.

Hopefully you will have better luck that the former SC'd beta owners on this site...

Update... Over Ten WEEKS since I ordered it and nothing -- no supercharger at my door. John at Alpine assured me that it would ship last week, and I heard nothing from him last week. Unacceptable.

All I've gotten since I placed the order is excuses as to why the kit hadn't been finished and ready to ship at any time in the last ten weeks.

I'm canceling my order. Ten weeks to deliver ANYTHING is unacceptable. What if a part on the kit broke? Would I have to wait ten weeks for a replacment part?

Sadly enough, that's typical.

kylemorg

Nope. It will be never for a kit from Alpine.

They WILL be giving me a refund. I will not accept the kit at this time, even if they did ship it last week. I'll ship it back.

I'll be in contact with NGM house of power and see if they want to work with someone with an Elantra to get their Beta II supercharger kit ready.

Just curious, but why is this such a huge suprise? I can't remember any thread talking about how great alpines delivery times were.

No exactly, Ford went through the same thing over the exact product...Kylemorg is pretty upset and I would be too, expecially when you pay that much for something.

Bob, When you get a reply from an Alpine representative saying that it should take "14 days door to door" for delivery before you order, and then you still don't have the kit in your posession after 70 days, it's a surprise.

yeah i don't think anyone will consider buying from them, the angry customers remind me of EvoFusion and thier service. NGM FTW!

i understand alpine sucks, but being that NGM has nothing out for our cars yet, and are still in development stages for the S/C, how are you guys already nutswinging?

Well if NGM turns out to be bad (i hope not) then you'll have to pick the lesser of two evils. Or DIY it all.

KeWLKaT
07-23-2007, 07:38 PM
You want a reason for our NGM excitement? They have a CRAPLOAD of products for the v6's. NO ONE has ever complained about a NGM kit.

I don't think the i4 kit will be any different. If anything, it's 2 cylinders less to work with haha

evan938
07-23-2007, 07:42 PM
ok, but isn't NGM the company that just tweaks alpine products?

im in no way bashing NGM. ive seen their products for the v6, and know they do well, but everyone who is all "ah, get the NGM s/c", when the only thing we know is thats its "in development" is nutswinging for no reason

once it comes out, is proven to put out some numbers, then start swinging

KeWLKaT
07-23-2007, 07:51 PM
They started out tweaking the alpine products, but then the demand came so now they produce 100% NGM kits, they're the ones with the awesome looking manifold ;)

Cypher
07-23-2007, 08:19 PM
they make their own kits along with the upgradeable sniper kit that you can upgrade to the mp90 supercharger which i believe made 270whp on a stock pulley and headers/exhaust/intake.

TheKoreanSaab
07-23-2007, 11:20 PM
yep and they have a intercooled kit. I dont believe Alpine ever released such a kit. Yeah and here is the tread again on the NGM one. You can just tell some hard work went into designing the manifold.

I fell prey to Dmdick's support of Alpine and comments on how they've gotten better. Obviously not, in this case.

Yep, I've been in touch with T.C. at NGM about the Beta II S/C. Depending on the price when it comes out, I might go for it. For now, I'm going to stay normally aspirated.

I don't drive in a fashion where I'd gain from having a turbo, so I don't plan on switching my FI asperations. There's nothing wrong with them other than I don't want to have to do that much work (Exhaust manifold, head spacer, all the plumbing, etc), and that they pretty much only give you high RPM power.
