I just had a JVC KD-HDR1 HD tuner/CD-mp3-wma player installed in my new car and the sound quality is phenomenal! When you tune into a station, it picks up the analog broadcast then switches over to the digital broadcast within about 2-3 seconds. It's the same quality as satellite, just via local broadcast. I can only imagine how much better it would sound with higher quality speakers ... I'm running the stock speakers (six speaker setup).

When the station tunes to the analog then switches to digital, you can hear the difference and it's quite amazing. CD quality audio, broadcast.

This head unit not only has a seven band graphic equalizer, it also has spatial adjustments so you can adjust the treble and bass individually front and back. It also features individual sound focusing front and back.

How much you ask? $179.99 installed plus a $40 rebate ... so $139.99 out of pocket. I love my new stereo. I got mine at audio shop called CarToys that has shops throughout the Pacific Northwest, but I saw it listed at Circuit City for the same price.

Here's what I got ...

I've already debadged the car, replaced the headlights and foglights and when I get my license plates so I can remove the temporary tag in the rear window, I'm going in for window tint. It's a start.

Yeah, I picked one of those up the other day. It's not so bad if you have a powered antenna it's pretty spotty where I am. Although so Is cellular coverage. There are some good stations though that are only broadcast in hd. It's similar to cb's with upper and lower side-bands. I think mine was $159 plus wiring harness, but I have the peice of mind that It was done right since I installed it. I'd advise waiting on buying it though so it can come down some in price.

The Accents come with an amplified antenna but there are lots of stations that broadcast HD around here. Nice thing is, most of the stations broadcast a second digital program along with the main program. I also like that with the digital broadcast, all of the information scrolls on the display. Artist/title/album and even station information.

Mine was professionally installed at a total cost of $139 after rebate, including the harness and dash kit. Can't beat that. I thought the price was exceptional for the amount of features.

I've heard satellite radio and I don't think it quite sounds like cd quality. Haven't heard HD radio yet though!

This thing is great. I've had it in for about 2 months now and one of the local rap stations has a second broadcast that's all old skool. The only thing i've found is that w/ rock or metal there seems to be too much high end vs. bass even w/ the sub in the trunk.

Wow that is a pretty good deal. Here in Columbus I think they said there is about 10 radio stations that broadcast in HD. I have thought about getting it but most of the HU's I have looked at you had to buy a specail receiver to actually get the HD stations. I may have to look into this one. It even had enough red on it to match the interior of my Dodge Stratus Coupe.

Only problem I've found is that you need to use an FM modulator to get an aux. input jack. Using one for my XM now. It is XM ready but that's alot of extra cash to get the neccessary parts for all that. The FM modulator allows me to plug anything in to a headphone jack and provides high quality sound. I'm very pleased with the overall quality of the deck. However, I paid 179.00 uninstalled... boo for me not getting as good of a deal as everyone else.

That's a pretty good price. I'm not a fan of JVC, but they seem to be coming up in the world of automotive audio/video components.

Not bad for three or four mods in two weeks of ownership, I guess the bug never goes away.

I noticed that the alternate programming on the digital broadcast is usually the same genre, but very different from the original program. It's kinda cool.

Sounds like you need to do some adjusting with the Circle Surround feature and cut some of the highs from the front.

I'm thinking about ordering that same dash kit as yours ... the one I got is curved to match the shape of the dash in my car but I think it would look okay if it were recessed and flat like your OEM one. The door is sweet too!

^^Maybe. All the adjustments confuse the hell out of me. When it comes to Hz and what not, you might as well be speaking chinese as far as i'm concerned.
