Hi guys, question about tails. How do I open them?Same as head lights?Shake and bake? What temperature and for how long?Has anybody donne it yet?IF yes what were the results?I have an idea how to spruce them up:D let me know what you think. Here goes....Set of Angel eyes glued(or somhow afixed) to the inside of red lens, two versions exist as you know.FlyRyde version and multi LED Shark version now whitch would be better suited ?(more visible?)Conecting them should'nt be to dificult I hope.So be onest and let me have it(I mean masive response):D.....Also apperance ,what do you think?

i think it might be alright as long as there red but anyother color wouldnt look right. mabey if you did a purple. and i only say that because ive seen some harleys with the purple dot in the middle of the brake light and it looks pretty good when they brake. but it may not have the same effect as the bike.

if you do this be sure to post some pics it sounds like it may be a good idea and give the brake lights a nice look with the red ring around it .

oh yeah i would also check local laws it may not be legal to do unless you could hook them up to only come on when you brake.either way let us know.

No. You have to carefuly destroy the red cover and then replace it with clear covers. Im working on a project of those right now. Just installing some 4 inch round led light inside (this is an experiment lol) and will look something like this.

Inside without cover

The led lights used are DOT SAE aproved

^i like your project there, looks pretty neat so far.

i would have thought there would be some way to get it off..

NUT, like Mayollo said you definitely have to break them. The oven doesn't work at all on the taillights.

Ugzz, like Mayollo said the sedan taillights are not exchangable.

This thread makes me want to work on my taillight project, I hate being lazy.

Kspec has the covers, and the LED's can be bought at any truckstop or fleet maint. place.

Damn! I tought there be no violence involved!O well............:D I'll check Kspec.BTW does anybody make clear lenses? not smoked.Back to my original idea,I want Shark racing Angel eyes in my tails, the multiple LEDs ones.Red!

Nah, I want just the Angel eyes no bulb involved, two in each tail, big ring and small one.Let's say Big one wired to headlights, small one to brake,or vice versa

Like I already typed yesterday, just email them and ask them and they'll get your right.

Tomorrow I'll upload my taillight pictures again.

Are those "tinted" or "clear" covers thick and strong enough? I don't want them to be crushed at autowash :)

mayollo072R
06-16-2007, 02:59 AM
They are strong and they are tinted. I do not recomend an auto wash tough since these are like overlays, oem are structurally attached. This ones will be glued.

Ok. Here's a look at my taillights that I have. The hardest part is clearing the broken pieces from around the edges where they lense is super extra hard glued on there. You should be using a dremel to clear it.

http://www.elantraxd.com/photopost/data/500/Taillight0001.JPG

http://www.elantraxd.com/photopost/data/500/Taillight0002.JPG

Here's a look with the covers setting on top. I need to get a dremel again and make them smaller all around so they fit perfectly.

http://www.elantraxd.com/photopost/data/500/Taillight0003.JPG

http://www.elantraxd.com/photopost/data/500/Taillight0004.JPG

http://www.elantraxd.com/photopost/data/500/Taillight0006.JPG

I would think that these would hold up in an autowash, but I'd be worry that they would get scratched.

Super,do the clear covers have dark edge all around just like the smokes? To cover the ugly red edge.BTW nice job:cool:

I believe the clear ones will have the black edge. I can't give you a 100% though.

i'm sure that the clear one have this black edge.. but like you said I'm not sure that they have the clear one for the elantra... on the
Dreamka4u (http://www.dreamka4u.com/) website, they wrote sonata, tuscani, santa fe and sorento for the clear one.. like they said.. e-mail them and you'll see...

and watch out when you cut on the edge of the light... when I did mine I cut too much of plastic.. now I must fill the edge of the light cause it's not fitting with the car..

don't forget to let the reflectors on the side of the light.. I don't know for your law in usa but here it's obligatory to have reflectors on the side of the light

Hello~

Thanks for visiting our site.

We are afraid to tell you that the clear typed tail light covers are
not available for Avante XD.

Only black bezzeled typed ones are available for Avante XD-4door sedan
model)

Any question? email us at dreamka4u@gmail.com

Thanks
Dreamka4u.com:( :( :( And that as they say is that.Maybe I'll get the smoked ones, but it's not going to be the original chrome/Angel eyes taillights .Gonna have smokes just like everybody else..........OK just e mailed them again ,asking lots of questions, about the covers,is the company making them but he does not know....do they plan on making them clear....how are they made(as of clear, and then spray painted)in that case skip the spray,or the raw plastic is already dark, and if non of the above ,can they make me clear set $$$???..........................Got my answer today,no clear covers.Thi is it the end of the UNIVERSE.............

OK new idea will need ,help coments, criticism even;) So here goes, smokes then, was thinking cut out red lens of the tails and ,cut out the clear part, save it then cut same size and shape hole in the smokes and insert the saved clear part from the original tails?I know lots of precision work to be done ,but just trying to be diferent(original). That's what moding is all about no?What do you think?

mayollo072R

That will look good but it will be a pain in the *** to do so. You can screw the idea easily with just a small slip. There are 2 guys here that have broken tails you might want to offer them a deal before screwing yours.

That seems like A LOT of work. But if you are confident in your skills then it might be worth a shot. The taillight material isn't the easiest to work with and the curvature doesn't help much.

Yes that will be PITA:D .toying with an idea of electricaly heated steel blade to do the precision cutting. Is it even posible?Something like soldering iron, insted of tip, blade, thin enough for precision yet rigid non bendeable
