painting the car

hey guys,

i have finally decided that its time for a new paint job for the outside of the car :D . but the only thing is that i dont no what color to paint it, my gf told me yellow, and i think its a good color. because i have only seen one yellow elantra but its an older model. i havent seen an yellow xd.

can u guys give me a good color to paint it?

That is all a matter of opinion. To me, you have to be extremely careful what color of yellow you use. There are a lot of yellows out there that are hideous. I have always thought a dark green would look good on the XD.

Ligh metalic yellows or yellow green metallic (like the new mustang gt color). Shinny and bright yellows (like banana or caterpillar looks awful my personal opininon).

i was thinking about the yellow on the new cobalt SS. or thinking about going alittle bit brighter then that.

man, im jealous. I can't wait to paint my car. Im going black with blue flake. As for the yellow, I agree with Mayollo072R. I'd go with one of those. I like the cobalt yellow too, but wouldn't go lighter then it. You would look like a lemon

I think yellow would get annoying after a while. lol Maybe a nice black, or shade of grey?

how much is painting it going to run you? i personally would go for a dark blue, like the topaz on bmws.

well, the cost for painting depends on where i get the job done. like one place told me $700, and another place told me $3k. but both places kind of do the same quality of work.

my car is a dark blue right now, but i want to paint it yellow because there isn't a yellow XD that ive seen. and nobody hardly has a yellow car, so i wanna be unique.

There are plenty of yellow XDs and XD2s in Australia.

Anyway, you get the idea. I like those yellows. I also like the soft yellow that was used on the RD2 Tibs, but I think I'm the only one in the world.

is white GLS here but no GTs. other countries have white GTs. i just think a nice clean white color would be more tasteful then yellow 4 door car. with your rims idk think yellow would look as good as your car would if it was painted white.

Let's get this straight for everyone... there are white GTs in Canada (and elsewhere) but there are no white GTs in the U.S.

my father had a yellow civic in like 1979 or some crap like that when they first came over here from Japan. so yes to a White GT XD and no to yellow GT XD.if you had a tib maybe but and for an XD, it would look and lil weird IMO.

i ws searching for awhile and i really like the looks of a dark blue outside and black inside.

but is there a color scale for different types of paint?

i was thinking about painting it a moonlit blue clearcoat, like the xd2's have.
