Very FARTY if you've got a header. Not too bad on one that doesn't have the header. I had the Thrush Glasspack and they are similar products. Nasty, crappy sound with a header.

I have a Holley Purple Hornie (I was told that it was the same thing as a cherry bomb but better quality) with my EF header and catback, I like the sound my car makes but most people would consider it a crappy farty sound. That sound isn't coming from that particular part of the system but altogether that's what it sounds like. Maybe the fact that I spent close to 1K $ on that exhaust system makes me like it more than I should.

To clarify, by "Cherry Bomb" I assume you're talking about the straight-through cylinder muffler, also referred to as a "glass pack".
They're similar in design to the stainless "fart can" cylinder mufflers, only smaller diameter.
The only way to know for sure is to try one. If you're putting it on an all stock exhaust with the factory resonator about half way up, it probably won't be that loud. However, I can't say whether it will be a mellow note or a raspy one.

cherry bombs and glss packs are different mufflers. But yeah, the straight through ones that you see on alot of old classic cars. they look like resonators and are painted red.

if you get one, it would be best in place of the stock resonator

^ Same thing as a glasspack, just different material in the cylinder. They sound farty, but if you add a Magnaflow or Flowmaster at the end, it'll take that sound away.
Are you wanting this as a muffler, or resonator?

That's funny... at least two sites refer to a cherry bomb as a glass pack...

If you are talking about the classic cherrry bomb type of exhaust resonator.
AND, as a matter of fact, THE CHERRY BOMB WEB SITE calls the red painted cherry bomb resonators glass packs.

Maybe you should check your facts before telling me I'm wrong Codenomics. I really hate when people do that, to me or anyone else. :hammer:
Back on topic, BColeman has a point -- glasspacks and mufflers serve some of the same purposes, but they are different. A glasspack is not a muffler, per se. I put one on my 1978 GMC 350 CI pickup truck back in 87 and it sounded good on that. However, that was on a big V8.

When I had my XD I had the Cherrybomb "glass pack" as well as the turbo muffler with a downward single tip, sounded really good. Nice and mellow at idle and not a radio killer at WOT. Cherrybomb may forever be tarnished by loud *** ricers but it sounds when employed properly.

^ Agreed. A resonator-type exhaust quieter works fine if it's properly implemented. The one on the KORE and EvoFusion ("Fart Can" style resonator) sound fine, with a properly tuned silencer in the end pipe.
That's what's on mine, and my wife says it sounds like a quieter version of the Subaru WRX STI up the street from us.

the cherry bomb glasspack (red cylinder) isn't the same as the cherry bomb "turbo" or "turbo II" muffler
I'm probably going to use both. using just the red one would be loud as crap.
