Thats pretty lucky that he spotted it as quick as he did. Hopefully no engine problems (or turbo issues) spring up because of this.

For some reason that pic didn't show up for me the first time I opened the thread...
Don't feel bad though Yamaha, one of the lead tech's in my shop did that twice in two days last week...

That is why you are to check for any leaks after changing your oil. You are lucky you didn't seem to do any damage.

Bah. It cant damage your engine in a short lapse of time like that. I once completely drained the oil from the car while on the freeway... pulled to the side, and called roadside assistance! lol I felt like a douchebag....
i had a leak in my 85 caddy, i went to put some oil in and checked the stick to see if i needed it.. well it didnt even register on the stick, i went to drain it and the tiniest little drops came out.. OOPS -i let it run dry!
i just filled it up and the car fan for about another 6 months.. then i blew the tranny cause it was fun dropping it into first and making that v8 "jump" at people lol

if you start to lose oil pressure thats all you need to do to kill the motor if you run it a minute longer than nessecary

the wierd thing was, he changed the oil before i got out there friday, drove it to his parents, then we drove it to the junkyard saturday (40 min away), and then he drove it to take us out to lunch sat. he definately did enough driving to notice it had it been going on
i think he said he heard a noise which was probably the plug bouncing up and hitting the car, which was less than 1/4 mile from his appt. thats why you can see it all down the road

if that is true then he is getting MASSIVE blow-by

Wow, I missed this thread. To put a short spin on it. The car is running FINE. And Keyan, good burn, but the only thing you'll ever see from my car, blown engine or not, it the back of my tail lights.
P.S.-Just kidding buddy. :)
if that is true then he is getting MASSIVE blow-by
And it wasn't blowby, it was oil spewing out of the pan.

You all missed ony NEW part on the car too, for shame!

I was saying that if the oil drain bolt got catapulted like evan said by excessive pressure, it could be caused by massive blow-by, that's all. I realize that your bolt is missing lol. BTW is that a missing subframe bolt on the right of where it says COUPE?
And nice tie wrap ;)

Felix, that hole is in the control arm. If you bolt the control arm in a stationary position...
I don't think Evan said anything about excessive pressure. I think the drain plug was left loose, worked it's way out, then bounced on the road as he was driving.

Dunno he said he heard a pop, which is why I made the assumption.
And for the bolt I was just saying because it looks like the plate that attaches frame to subframe under our cars.
