Just found out that after 3 events I am 2nd place in rookie standings. 17 rookies in the Indy region this year.
That is all. Now back to your regularly scheduled surfing.

Great job man. I can't wait till I have everything in place and I can start running solo. I've been dreaming of it over the last couple of months, since I checked out SCCA's website and have been reading up on the rules and regs.
Great job, keep up the good work.

oh man I want to do autox so bad now. I don't think the girlfriend likes the idea though.
Way to go! Doing that well in STS in an Elantra speaks volumes about your smoothness..... good job!
 Way to go, Bob! It looks like there are a number of events in Indy and Columbus; since I won't be that far away when I move to the Cincy area, I may have to get back in the game again (used to race an X1/9 in Solo II)

This is my first. My FIRST auto-x was last august. Then I hit the 3 events this year and was in the Winged Warrior event.

Nice job Bob, really nice. Keep it up. I will use your accomplishments for my route to auto-x. If you haven't done so already, maybe you can get a thread stickied for What to Do/Not to Do for Auto-x.

Seat time and don't run your mouth about what you think you know. Listen to the old timers and take their advice. Get a ride in some of the X-perts. That will be valuable.

Nice, they've got ride-alongs? That would be great. When I want to learn something, I only ask questions, and pay close attention to the demonstrator. And seat time, I'll make sure I get plenty. Thanks Bob, you the man!

You know, I usually walk the course 3-4 times and try to do it with 2 different people to get different views. MAtter of fact, the guy I always try to catch (but never can) has been one of my biggest helps. Always helpful.

Yes, I would definitely agree that the winner is the one to watch in order to learn. I can't wait till I'm in a position that I can finally go crossing. I'm so looking forward to it.

Ride-alongs help A LOT and it's usually not hard to find an experienced autocrosser to ride with. But perhaps what helps most is letting an experienced autocrosser drive your car. That can reveal all sorts of things about how much potential your car has, and when you take over you can more-or-less try to mimic their driving to match their speed.
One of the local instructors drove my car as I rode with him for a few runs during an autocross school. That was a good experience and it's impressive to watch just how incredibly smooth of a driver he was even when pushing the limits. I need to see if I can arrange something like that again in one of the upcoming events. I need a nationals champion to co-drive my car... that'd be nice.

I been trying to find someone to co-drive to see where the car is. No-one wants to drive the Hyundai.

Keep up your standings, or even improve them. Then someone will finally take notice.

Reviving this one. . .
OFFICIAL Standings after 5 Events (http://www.indyscca.org/SoloFiles/SoloResults/2007/2007SoloResults.htm)
Breakdown:
1st in Novice
3rd in class
7th in the region.
We've had 206 people in the region this year, but only about 100-125 are actually eligible for the end of year standings. 53 novices(abut 22 regulars) and 22 in class (about 12 regulars).

I rode along with a experienced driver and had 1 ride along with me my first time on the track.
