I thought that maybe some of you would enjoy the following wildlife pictures I took. I went to Grandfather Mountain here in North Carolina for Father's Day, and I really enjoyed myself. My wife, and 2 oldest kids, went in my car, which was a real treat. Especially the roads, twisty, off-camber, uphill, downhill. Very fun, both the roads and the national park.

Check 'em out.

First and foremost, my most favorite BIRD, the Bald Eagle. I stood for over an hour watching him, he's beautiful.

Some deer they had there. I've got more pics of them, but I didn't want to post too many.

A resident otter:

I've got a few of the following cougar, but this one is my favorite:

And lastly, a young black bear. It's parent were sleeping on the other side of the rock. I've got pictures of them too, but mostly their feet and legs.

I hope you enjoy. It was a very nice place to visit. I can't wait to go back, maybe in the cooler months, when there are even more animals roaming about.

P.S. Bald eagle is not a mammal. :)

I want an otter as a pet. They are cool and can swim fast. They are one of my favorite animals at the zoo.

Well, I can't be right everytime. I figured since it was warm blooded, I would just say mammals, though I should have known it wouldn't fly. It was laziness on my part.

And, if you just hop on I-40 West for 2 hours and hit S.R. 421 North, you'll be there in another hour and a half. It's worth the $14 admission price. There were quite a few other things to do there, like a swinging bridge that's over a mile above ground, and hiking. But the kids are too small for that stuff.

Man, it was great. I'm a nature, woodsy person. I'm an Eagle Scout, though I received that 12 years ago. But it's in my nature to be outdoors, in the woods, camping, hiking, etc.

Awesome pictures! Glad to hear your trip went well!

Thank you sir! ! ! And thanks for vouching for me in the other post:D

And the camera I use is:

Actually all mammals:
1. warm-blooded
2. vertebrates
3. mammary gland in females
4. presence of hair
5. 3 middle ear bones
6. neocortex region in the brain

And against popular belief...not all mammals give birth to live young....such as the platypus, which lays eggs.

I was once a biology major;)

Thank you.

I like the camera too. This is the second digi we've owned, the first being a Canon Powershot. I like how pictures turn out on this one though, and the ease with which to change the features. I like the zoom quality too. Those pictures I took, I was over 100 to 200 feet away. For the deer, I was a little farther than 200 feet away.

nice pics, did you see anyone feed the animals? When i was younger i was able to throw marshmallows to the bears at the cleveland zoo but then they had to make a pit to seperate visitors cause the bear died from his crazy diet.

BColeman

No, I didn't see anyone feed the animals. They do let the public feed the bears, but only at certain times during the day, and you have to buy the feed from a shack near the corral.

thats cool cause bears really like marshmallows even though it kills them.

so its more like a zoo/park then?

the bald eagle is f'in awesome. ive seen 2-3 in the wild up here in ohio...we have a place we used to duck hunt when i was still into hunting a few years back...they have a huge bird sanctuary near it, and you could see bald eagles sometimes. definitely cool as **** to see in the wild
