well I just got my 30,000 mile tranny serive. It was like $100. I would've done it myself but they told me that you have to use Hyundai tranny fluid. Other wise it will be no longer under warrenty. Check with your dealer, before they tell you something else later. Good Luck!!

The Diamond SP-III and SP-III fluids are different than the Dexron-III fluid, although most people will tell you they are identical to each other. Apparently the SP-III fluids are not as harsh as Dexron is on the internals, which does include plastic parts.

The manufacturer does state use the specific fluid that is in there. I would go with that.

of course, you can buy it at the bottle at the parts section of any Hyundai dealer.

Generally, auto parts stores do not carry the fluid. You have to get it from a dealer. I've heard of prices ranging from $6 to $12 per quart. If the dealer quotes the higher price, try a different dealer. Hyundai, Kia and Mitsubishi dealerships should have the stuff since their trannies require it.

Right..

It is a dealer item only.

I believe the consensus was 4 quarts.

buy 5. the transmission actually holds close to 9+ (i think), but the torque converter cannot and willnot drain fully. it will most likely drain between 3-5qts. add fluid, start engine, run through gears, let trans fluid warm up,check it on a level surface in neutral ! and then add as neceissary !

^ Okay, I couldn't remember what you had posted in yet another tranny fluid thread. It seems the last week there's been at least 5 threads about this same topic. I just recently gave up telling people to use the search button.

For auto trannies, use Hyundai OEM fluid only.
