I contacted Kspec the other day and they told me the part number of timing belt they send out 24312-23202. Well I went out tonite and checked the number on the belt they sent me, it was 24312-23400...so I looked it up on Hyundai Parts Online and it comes up as BELT, TIMING but it doesnt give any year or model that it goes on. I mailed them back with what I found but they havent gotten back to me yet, they better cough up the right belt!

i bought my timing belt kit from kdmstuff.com and it installed fine ! and the part number WAS different than the old belt's part #. But they were the same length and had the same number of teeth so I used it. Seems to have worked so far.

By too short, do you mean it appears too short when eyeballing it? Or does that mean that you tried to install it and it was too short?
Remember man...looks can be deceiving.

donnie's belt is REAL tight because of his decompression spacer.

donnie's belt is REAL tight because of his decompression spacer.
Donnies belt isnt REAL tight...Donnie's belt is super uber tight with zero play in it...this is not caused by the decomp plate, there should still be some slack.
See this picture, hes running a decomp plate as well, his belt has tons of slack in it compared to mine. Look at the position of the hole on the timing belt tensioner on his motor and then look at mine. It turns out that my car was made on Jan 20/2002 so it requires the timing belt 24312-23202.

i don't see why your year would matter? i wasn't aware any changes were made to things in terms of accessories and that crap.

No I dont understand either but perhaps they made a change to the belt or they would have had the same part and part number the whole time.
24312-23202 should fit every beta II no matter what year.Thats the only belt we carry for the beta II's

nope there are two differant ones
23202 is for production dates 07/01/00 - 03/13/02 and the 23400 is for 03/13/02 - current

you seem to pop out of no where, thanks again for the help Jasen. There is something seriously wrong just due to the lack of adjustment I can make with my belt. Not sure if one is longer than the other but somethings gotta give.

I just did some more searching. from 10/01/01 to 03/13/02 the tensioner is 24410-23500 the idler is 24810-23500 and the belt is 24312-23202.
all three parts changed on 03/13/02.
the tensioner is 24410-23400 the idler is 24810-23400 and the belt is 24312-23400.
I would think the idler and tensioner pulley diameters are different and this is why your belt doesn't fit. but I have never put the two parts side by side so i'm not sure.
