yeah i just saw that on yahoo, that is so stupid, if they want us to stop racing illegal they need to make more tracks and make it free. if not then nobody will ever stop street racing, they are just waisting their time

Is not the same info as these cars were crushed by court order in California. That thread you've mentioned is from a province in Ontario, Canada not in the US.
Different situations in different countries.

Saw this earlier. But, I still think the same thing. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Someone I would think this would fall under cruel and unusual punishment forcing them to watch it. Not to mention I thought it was amusing that the owner was the one who said part it out and give the cash to charity.
the report said the owners are allowed to watch, not forced to watch. You also have to remember all cars had stolen parts in them, so not only where they street racing, they were at the least receiving stolen property if not stealing the parts themselfs.

Exactly. That's what makes it not only legal, but a good idea.
As opposed to the Canada thing which is idiotic- the guy's trying to make it illegal to have a fast car if you've done anything to make it so... even if no other crime is involved.

My mistake, I meant same info as in street racers getting their cars crushed. Location didn't really matter to me.

At least the cars they crushed were from people who were actually convicted of street racing and had reportedly stolen parts on their cars.
I will never street race -- it's too dangerous. I've never even raced my car on a track yet. But now I'm afraid to go to Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada in my Elantra XD with all the stuff on it (CAI, Catback, 17" rims, FI - S/C (soon), HID headlights, tint, rear spoiler, etc.). They're liable to try to confiscate and crush my car.

I would fight them tooth and nail if need be. The charges would be more then "possible street racer"...

Now why should racing at a track be free. Do you have any idea the costs involved in the upkeep of these tracks? You've got people to pay to work, the upkeep of the pavement, payment for the land, etc. There's no way you can have a track to race on that's free.
I do agree though, there should be more tracks, or at least more that are easily accesible.
When I was living in Orlando, I was only 25 minutes from a track, the Orlando Speedway. Now that I'm in North Carolina, I'm over an hour away from one, and that kind of sucks. But, I'll still travel there to race, because that is the kind of environment I like to race in. And the results of races there are worth braggin about, especially since you have proof with timeslips.
