I was just wondering how easy it is exactly to change the front brake pads on a 1995 Elantra. I have downloaded the shop manual from the hyundai website, but was wondering if any of you old timers have any special suggestions. It's not an ABS car so i have heard it should be a lil more straightforward to change the front brakes.
If you couldn't notice, I'm kinda new at this

Most non-ABS systems are the same (except my old Prelude) have a metric socket set, and a large C-clamp, and some zip-ties or wire.
Take off the 2 bolts that hold the caliper on, use the C-clamp to open it up a little, then remove it and suspend it from the car with the wire, Remove old pads, use C-clamp to compress the piston, insert new pads, put back into position, re-instal bolts, go inside aand pump brakes a few times.

your 95 is similar to my 93 setup...
ive done it in about an hour (not including jackin up my pass-in-*** car.. thats a whole other issue).
its pretty straight forward.

You obviously haven't tried mine
Thanks for the input though, i will try it tomorrow along with changing spark plugs and wires.

The most trouble I ever had on a brake job was my prelude, on it you had to screw the piston back down, I had to pull out the manual to see why I couldn't compress it.
Brakes are the eaisest thing to do on a car, I have been changing them since I was 10.
I did the brakes on my fiance's caravan a couple weeks ago for the first time in under an hour.

SilverBullet: I think I take the cake for the longest jack-up time.
I need at least two jacks for my car to get into the air. 1 hydraulic and 1 mechanical.
it can take anywhere from 45mins - 1hr. depending on how much energy you have. :(

yup, the bodykit. jacks dont fit under my car either.
it was pretty evident at hyundai sunday.
I have to put the mechanical jack in through the little space beside the wheel... manuveur it so its under the body enough, and raise it up enough so I can get a hydraulic jack up at the front.
