On another forum I am on for my bike, one of our members died yesterday on his way to the tail:

http://www.knoxnews.com/kns/local_news/article/0,1406,KNS_347_5600619,00.html

He was a regular member and posted frequently, plus he was very likeable person that would go out of his way to help anyone. He left behind a wife and 3 kids. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

I figured I would post this here as he felt like part of my family over there as everyone here also feels like my family.

It is weird that on bike forums we have a 'fallen riders' section, I guess because it is almost a given. But on car forums they don't, probably because everyon is riding in a cage.

I like motorcycles and everything, but I would not ride if I had a family to support. My mom even made my dad get rid of his triumph bonneville when we were born.

Sucks! I don't quite understand how it happened though. He just out of the blue hit the Nissan while trying to pass another car? And the bumper of the Nissan is what flew off and killed him?

Yeah that sucks, the description isn't easy to understand. I think I'll stay in my "cage" (reiforced passenger compartment with crumple zones) with my "web" (seatbelt) and "bags" (airbags), or whatever nickname they have.

Kind of makes you think about your own mortality,we are not indistructable or invincible. So think about it next time you are trying to do something dumb.Just imagine, if it happens to you, what will your family do.You don't want to put wife+ kids,or just parents in position of loosing member of a family. That just plain sucks.Enough said, may what ever God he believed in have mercy on his soul.RIP

thats just sad, my dads a heavy rider and hes been clipped before but never anything serios, one of his buds was just put in IC for a week becasue an suv switched lanes rapidly directly into him @ 80mph.. he was lucky to live

my dad was sitting at a red light a few months back and some lady on her cell that was behind him just.. didnt stop. nailig his back tire and sending him down.. just scratches and bruizes and he had frame sliders on the bike.. so he was ok and so was the bike -the frame sliders which needed replacement and just a nick or two

i can ride, used to dirbike all the time.. but after seein my dad go down and his buddy into er, i just decided not to ride on roadways. if i ride, its off road, so if im injured its my fault, not someone elses..

/end rant
