View Full Version : Bought an Accent
Elantrauma

Well, I traded in my 2001 Elantra yesterday and got a brand new 2007 Accent SE. The accent lacks alot of power but I needed a new car and it was the closest thing I could find in my price range. So I guess I wont be posting on here as much anymore:( . Does anybody know if there is a forum like this for the Accent?

Congrats on the new purchase. Gary recently bought an 07 SE also. You guys should be friends.
No, there are no good Accent sites (that are in English). You guys need to make one.

hte only thing i dont like about the MC is that they switched to a torsion bar...so the rear is no longer independent like thet lc....
other than that its a nice car....especially with the 16's and a moon roof....
doing a beta swap into that would suck....you have to use a brandnew motor to keep it legal....and there are alot of things to consider.
and if you do a swap...dont be like the others that try to use the accent cpu on the beta motor....just doesnt work right.

I wouldn't worry about a swap. Milk that baby for the MPG and see what comes up in the future with the potential use of a 1.8l or 2.0l Theta engine.

Even a month later, I like my Accent better than the Elantra. Sure, I miss the better acceleration at times but mostly everything about the car is just a little bit better. After driving the HD Elantra, I think the Elantra took a big step backward and the Accent took a major leap forward.

Well, it DOES perform if you're talking about handling. It corners much better than my Elantra did with the Tibby stabilizer bar, upgrade tires, and front strut tower brace. If you're talking about acceleration, well, it's right there in the pack with most of the subcompacts.
I forgot to add ...
Congrats on the purchase of your new Accent Elantrauma! Will you be Accentrauma now? Like I have found, just because you bought an Accent doesn't mean you can't still hang on the board. I'm still an Elantra enthusiast, just don't own one anymore.
Be patient, the car gains a little bit of speed as it breaks in.
What color did you get? I was going to get a Tango Red with the moon roof but I just didn't want to swing the $1,250 extra especially considering I was just going to pull the CD changer and replace it anyway. I put a JVC HD unit in and love it.

I am.
Hi Gary lol. I traded the Elantra because I was having a legal shuffle with my bank (Sun East Federal Credit Union). They were trying to reposess my Elantra Illegally. The Loan was all paid. They only tryed to take it because my mom has a lawsuit against them. You know how that goes.....So I decided to get rid of my busted Elantra, and I saw the accent. Showroom model with 45 miles on it. Kinda looks like an old Civic.

Thanks Gary. I got a "Platinum Silver' one. I have noticed the car is gaining some speed after driving it a bit. It works for me. I guess there would be no harm in still posting on this forum. I do have a small history here so might as well! If it is ok with the admins I will change my name. Im thinking what you suggested "Accentrauma", I give you credit for that one;) How do you change it though, I cant figure it out!

Whos Gary?
Anyone remember this line\part from the movie Weird Science....LMAO
Anyhow...there are some basic accessories available in the Hyundai accessory catalog (short ram intake, body kit, etc...) that you might be interested in...
I have driven an Accent SE...and I like it.
Congrats on the new car....

It's all up to James if you change your member name but I'm guessing he'll say no just because everyone else will want to do the same.
Mine had 9 miles on it after my test drive. It had actually just come off the truck and they hadn't even removed all the protective plastic from the different surfaces. One thing I noticed is there is no "new car" smell. Was yours the same?
Is your Accent an auto or stick? I thought it was interesting that the auto is rated for higher highway mileage than the stick. I bought an auto ... I hate shifting in traffic.

Yea my just smelled like new plastic and new cloth. Its an auto but I do plan on getting a Tib in the future, hopefully as my next car, and have it as a manual. I havent driven manual that much but the times I did, I liked "driving" the car rather then having it drive me. I think the autos are rated for higher because, I dunno about anyone else, but when I exit out onto I-95 I wanna pick up speed. The car knows better than I do when to shift.

I think you should ONLY be able to change your name if your name relates to the model car you have and you no longer have that car.
