well ive been trying to wax it too see if i can get the gloosyness back, but as you can tell thats not a dirty car hood, i think some one mentioned that it was called oxidize paint. is there anything i can do to get the gloss back, or am i just ****?

Ouch.. how'd that happen? Defnitely wax won't help... maybe some polishing if it's just a nasty clearcoat.. ? Good luck

You could TRY polishing compound (Turtle wax sells it in a can) if other waxes / polishes don't work. However, be very careful with it. You can remove too much material with it if you are not careful.
If it's surface oxidation, that should remove the discoloration. If it's in the tint layer itself, it won't help.
Whatever you do to polish it, wax it immediately afterwards to re-seal it after you polish it.

looks like it's time to get a carbon fiber hood... :D

How is the roof and the rest of the car? Is it only the hood?
Looks like it's about time for professional help. Wetsand could take care of it if it's only surface-deep or in the clear, but it's likely going to need a repaint to be completely better.

Honestly, if thats not dirt and dust, just spend the $200 to have it re painted and clearcoated.
The clear on these cars is far too thin to do a wetsand and buff if its that bad. A polishing compound MIGHT help alittle bit and if you don't have an electric polisher you are in for one hell of a work out

If you want to, try using some Meguiar's Scratch-X on a small area and see if that helps. If you get some, the way it works is this: the heat from friction helps smooth out the clear coat. So you have to rub it very vigorously and quickly and press hard.

Dont want to sound pesimist but yes your hood is ****ed up. Polishing with rubbing and then some thinner polishing compoubnd can help it to look better but eventually your paint will fade away. So repaint is what will solve the look on that hood.
my buds 93 s10 looked like that all around, we tried polishin and waxing and it made some spots look better but others look worse.. considering it looked pretty bad before he started and looked pretty bad when he was done it was just a waste of a day. i wanna say that all said n done he spent at least 6 hours on it.. i helped for the 1st or so hour, but im lazy and i was doing a stereo install that day on another car.. since the situtuation of the paint are so simiar im going to learn toward you need a repaint.. since its black you could spray it yourself then clear it and save some $$.. course if you have the money id do it professiaonaly, but thats only cause i suck at painting..

Klasse All-In-One!!
Do it by hand until it's all gone or use a moistened foam pad w/ an orbital buffer.
Seen plenty of old grey cars turn black and pink cars turn red with this stuff.

its just the hood, whole body is good, with little minor dents from stupid peoples doors hiiting my car, but just my hood has a lot of little chips and now it looks like that, i tought about a carbon fiber hood, but im still thinking...

i think thats well beyond polishing. in the pic, it appears that ALL the clear and some of the color has degraded. repaint will be the cheapest and best way to fix this. i mean you could try and wheel the hood out. but if your not carefull, with that ammount of paint loss, you will burn thru the paint (whats left) rather quickly.

one more thing, are those clouds in the reflection, or is that the actual paint finish? should have taken a closer look. if they are clouds, then there might be hope. if its the paint finish, your outa luck. there is no clear or paint to work with to try and bring it back.
by chance, do you park in a parking structure? if so, its calcium deposits (water seaping thru the concrete, that leaves mineral deposits on the paint and stains the paint. not a simple fix, but it is fixable with a certail chemicle. and not CLR..lol and this i can fix, or tell you how to fix.

Here's a real-world before/after pic of Klass alone. Klasse removes oxidation chemically rather than by polishing it out. I'd polish it first then use Klasse since some of your oxidation will be below the surface too. If Klasse is out or your budget or availability just try Meguiars cleaner wax which usually also has stuff that remove oxidation chemically.
