View Full Version : Non-fouler?
So does anyone know where to go to get a non-fouler for the 2nd O2 sensor? I'd really like to get rid of my CEL light.
Im running headers with not cat's, so relocating the sensor probably wont help.

ive got one here...
if you have a good condition silver side molding from a rear passenger door, we can do a straight up trade...if not, just throw me like 6-7$ for shipping and a padded envelope and ill get it out to you

Im pretty sure the moldings were destroyed on the old car.
PM me an addy and i'll try and figure out a way of mailing an empty envelope to you to get mailed back...?
I hate shipping things...

Send the empty, pre-stamped padded one inside a bigger plain one.

I relocated the o2 sensor and am still throwing a CEL, so I was just about to talk about this.
Do I buy a non-fouler/de-fouler for any car, or do they make them specifically for elantras (I saw one on ebay for a ford).
Also, what is involved? Just unscrew the o2 sensor (with a 22m socket square socket, right?) and put this fouler over the o2 or what?
though im 100% stock i have been interested in how these work two.. they have been comin up alot on the boards

I got one somewhere laying around in my garage.
Thanks guys. I didn't know if this was just a part you could get at autozone or what. I just don't want a CEL when its time for inspection, because I think in Butler their really lax on inspections so I SHOULD be able to squeak by...

Can you give some info? Where'd you get it from? Was it for your specific model? How exactly do you install it? And how does it even work? Thanks.

A non fouler is more or less like an o2 sensor spacer. You remover your o2 sensor from the bung on the exhaust, the non-fouler threads into that hole and the o2 sensor threads into the non-fouler. At the end of the non-fouler thats closest to the exhaust stream there is a hole drilled into it so only a small amount of exhaust gas enters and can be picked up by the o2 sensor. This allows you to fool the stock computer that everything is tickity boo with your exhaust when you install a header, thus removing one of your catalytic converters.
Get it?

Its a mechanical o2 sim. They are generally made out of some spark plufg antifoulers, bored to the o2 size. You install it under your 2nd o2 sensor. It works by limiting the amount of gases the o2 sensor can read at a given time. Since the first o2 sensor is reading unfiltered exhaust gases, and the 2nd one is reading less, the system thinks there is a working cat. (ie no cel) Its a cheap fix ($15) that last. I prefer this method than drilling holes past the cat, and having o extend the o2 sensor/

Thanks, I didn't know that. I'll have to do that, even though my o2 sensor is behind my cat (my only cat). It's still saying cat below threshold.

I'm looking to buy a non-fouler on ebay and the only one I could get was one for a dodge ram 3500... Are these all universal (I would think so...) or do I need to get one specifically for my car?

Check the Newtiburon Forums ther was a guy there that was making them. He started with a 2 piece method and change to a single piece. I forget his name and other info but that is who I went through to get mine in the first place.

edit: StrutKing is who sold me mine had to do some searching. But above is a link to an associated site of his selling them predone single piece for 13$ or an angled one for 30$ I know it says Honda/Accord but the piece is the same.

Thanks very much. What would be the difference between a single piece and an angeled one? just how the o2 is sitting? I'd imagine I'd need single piece
