The story goes on to say the car is great, but the guy sounds like he's putting down the car. I have a disagreement with this comment It doesn't have to look like a Tiburon, but as it is right now, it has to be one of the most boring-looking cars on the market.

And this one The Elantra isn't perfect, of course. It's difficult for someone with big hands to use the controls. Most Hyundais, including this hatchback, have very small buttons and labelling, so it may be difficult for those with poor eyesight to navigate through audio or climate controls. And man do those doors sound weak when you close them.

Well, if he's got big hands I think he needs to lose some weight and he needs glasses then because the car is fine IMO

The link doesn't work because you linked it through your hotmail I'm guessing.

sounds like the only car that would make that guy happy is a suburban :) how big do the controls and stereo buttons have to be?! weak sounding doors??!? wtf?! that's the worst (and incorrect on top of that) comment one can possibly come up with.

EDIT: link works for me

Yes, at first the link was done through my hotmail, but it's corrected now.

The controls are fine... except for the cruise control. I just don't like the lever for a cruise control but a lot of cars are like that.

I do agree with him about the doors sounding weak. The doors are fine to look at, but I don't like the way they're put together. And how it makes noises when you rest your knee on the door. Even an old Dodge Neon's doors are put together better than that.

"..it may be difficult for those with poor eyesight to navigate through audio or climate controls"... If your eyesight has gone that bad, you should either be wearing glasses or shouldn't be driving altogether in my opinion

Haha, very good point. I guess he's talking about farsighted people, but yeah your vision would have to be pretty bad.

Actually, now that I think back, I do think the audio controls were a little small... for the 6 days I had stock audio in my car -lol. I see nothing wrong with the climate control sizing. And I have big hands (since I'm 6'4" I'd prob. look funny with small hands). F these Hyundai-hating auto critics who can't accept the fact that there's something decent out there that's not a Hondah or Yotar.

Here's another funny auto review -- If you get a chance, check out Consumer Reports car guide. In the 2001 and 2002 guide, they were still knocking Hyundai's reliability based on the mid-80's Excels. However, if you looked at the model year actual vehicle ratings published in the back of the book, Hyundai beat out ford, GM, and I think Mazda overall for reliability, so their own ratings contradict their blurb about the cars!

Consumer Reports LOVED the Ford Focus.

I'm starting to not trust even Consumer Reports anymore.

I don't know, the car has its weaknesses, but he still says that it's great deal, a better choice than a VW Golf. It is a bit bland in its stock configuration, one reason I chose hydrogen blue for the colour. And he can't be biased against Hyundai, he also reviews the Tiburon and absolutely loves it, except for the cruise control stalk hitting his legs.

I could see complaing about the audio controls, they are larger than most stock setups, but are similar to most aftermarket sterios.
I ment to say that they are smaller than most stock setups. He was driving a GT, wich comes with the kenwood HU.

Edit: oops I clicked edit instead of Quote so the old one is gone now.

I honestly don't remember the audio controls at all. Like hyunelan2, I didn't waste any time to install my aftermarket head unit.

UH OH! Someone had to bring the Canadian thing into this! :eek2:

I think most reviewers are idiots. How many women who generally (except for Canadian women I hear :D :) ) have smaller hands? To the previously mentioned point, if you can't see the radio, what the hell are you doing driving a car? And lastly, directed to the 'boring' comment, I guess this guy hasn't seen anything that has rolled off a domestic production line in the last 20+ years.

I go for the consumer reports myself- real people are far more honest. I'm also biased...I have driven one for a year...not a half hour like this guy.

It's not a good thread if we don't bring up the Canadians.

I have to agree with you here. The reviewers generally havent been driving the car long enough to have good observations about the car, even though some points they make may be true in those 30 minutes they do spend in the car, Id rather have the word of someone who has had a little bit more experience driving the car.
