Its a tough call. I had to take it in today cause the front right brake was making an EXTREAMLY high pictched noise every 20 seconds, and it turns out some slider thing kept coming off and sticking.

Last year, I think we had to almost have the entire front brakes replaced or something to that effect. And they also said today (the car was getting inspected also) that there was beginning to get a huge amount of brake dust gathering in the rear brakes.

Oh ya, brakes arnt under the warrenty apparently past 12k miles. So we have to pay for it. As much as I want this car for the plans I have for it, if it continues to have brake problems I just dont know.

(sorry if this is stupid, but its just really irking me that the brakes are having so many probelms and they arnt used for hard braking other then like, once a month)

Um well what are your other options? And are the brakes become a financial burden?

As Jay had told me once, Elantras are notorious for eating rear brakes for no reason. I noticed it a while ago. There is really no fix for it.

IMO, replacing rear brakes every 20k is cheaper than the extra car payment that you will get with some other vehicle. And trust me, Elantra's aren't the only ones that have brake problems. I sell auto parts, and brakes are a common issue for many imports.

Yes, I know that. But since this is the second problem for the front, and the first for the back, im just paranoid that i'll be happily cruising down 422 doing the speed limit when all of a sudden the front brakes lock. Ya, I dont like that thought. And they arnt a financial problem YET, but if it keeps up, my parents might get fed up with paying, since being only 16 and working at a grocery store, I cant really pay for it all the time.

Well, being as you are only 16, you need to have this conversation with your parents, not us because it is their choice on if they want to buy you new brakes every couple years or deal with financing tons of negative equity into another car increasing the car payment by a couple hundred dollars every month.

A better solution is for you to learn how to drive better. I mean no insult by this but at 16, I think most of rode our brakes hard (I know I did).

Your probably right, but I think im decided on that im keeping the car unless it gets totaled and theres no possible way to repair it back to what it was, because I dont like the look of the 04 GLS's AT ALL. And with that im setting on that. The car doesnt go till it dies or wrecks. :)

(That and because I find myself staring at that SRT-4 book I nabbed from the Dodge part of Kelly's a lil too much... bad me, bad!)

If your parents only knew how much your insurance would be with the SRT-4, they'd spank you for just for having that thought! LOL
