I've noticed that nobody is letting me know if it's ok to make their DIY's into seperate pages like I've been doing this past week. Should I just go ahead and make them for all the DIY's that meet the requirements? I really want to get a good list of them up. So, should I wait for permission or go ahead and make them without permission.
(I understand I don't really need permission, I'm just trying to be nice).

Well you have my permission. And you have my permission to rewrite everyone elses DIY too... err, maybe it doesn't work like that but that's how I voted. ;)
errr. I don't know how to vote because I don't understand the question as to what you are talking about. I know there are alot of DIYs still on the old board too... in any case if you are asking about doing a rewrite then you have my permission to rewrite the ones I did.

i say go ahead and do it...if someone is unhappy with their DIY being posted as a separate page and not as a thread they can PM you and ask you to take it down. you've let everybody know that you need their permission and if they don't get back to you after a long period of time it's almost like you have it be default :) just make sure to give credit to those who did the writeup and you should be ok. that's my $0.02

I would say that as long as you give credit where credit is due, I don't think anyone should complain if you post the DIY that they submitted to the board. It would be different if you just copied everything and didn't credit, but that is very evidently not the case... Don't even worry about it.
Heck, there may even be something in the license agreement we all click "Yes" to that says you own the content anyway :P

IMO, if someone posted it on this site, it is now the property of this site, and administration can do what they please with that information.

I agree with hyunelan. If they posted it, and it meet the requirements, I think it should be on the seperate page. BTW, You have my permission to post the Foglight DIY. :)

My opinion is to ask first every time. Some people might see the DIY as not quite finished (refined) as they initially post it, then as people comment about it, the author can change the DIY as needed. Some of the DIY's I read seem a bit one sided and incomplete and possible wrong information is given for the capabilities of the average person.
For example, I used Southpaw's DIY on adding a shock sensor to the factory alarm, where he used the Tapping into the ETACS DIY as a reference tool for the wiring. As I and Pumbaa tried installing one on my car, I found the DIY to lack information in a couple areas. One, the wiring colors were wrong according to the ETACS DIY and two, the instructions on the sensor require it to be able to be turned off when you are driving, which on the DIY, it was hooked to a constant power source. I had to make a few alterations based on the wire color and the turn off requirement. I added a relay to the sensor power ground lead and changed wire color codes to get it the way it needs to be.

Post 'em.
If someone wants to make changes they can always contact you to add additional information right?
Perhaps at the end of each DIY there can be a comment section for people to say how they found the DIY, any additional info. or pointers etc.

I tend to be very picky and want what I do to be very accurate. I have submitted a couple DIY's on EGT that were somewhat easy and mechanical in nature.
I tend to think about the consequences more and the possible what ifs. That thought is often thought as demeaning and negative, but I don't want something that I used taken and used as directed and fail because something had changed along the way. Before I installed the sensor on my alarm, I had talked to Southpaw to get things accurate and after I installed it and discovered wire color changes, I let him know about the problems I ran into because the colors were changed by Hyundai.
I do like the idea of possible modifications noted.

Looks like it is an overwhelming response to just go ahead and start posting them. I'm going to put a link at the bottom of them to their matching forum thread in case people want to ask questions or get another persons idea or thoughts on the DIY.
CC, I understand what you are saying about asking them, that's the whole reason for this thread. The problem is I posted a big thread about it (that even shows up on the main page) and only one person (only1db) even responded to it. So, starting tonight I'm going to begin putting them up.
Thank's for the response everyone, I love to hear from all the members like this. Thanks again.
