So ok... When I painted my headlight bezels, installed my angel eyes and took out the amber lens, My turn signals looks like f'in high beams... and I'm not a dick that likes to blind people...
So... I thought about this... what if I take the bulbs out.. and paint a circle on the tip of the bulb.. probably half inch big... with caliper paint?...
a handfull of us talked about this in another thread. did anyone ever try it? its a good idea!

get some high temp engine paint and try it... just spray some in a cup and then go to town.
and if you do eff up the bulbs, you can get the silverstar turns that look clear, but lighgt up amber... problem solved

caliper paint will hold temps a lot hotter than your bulbs could ever think of getting. glass does not hold heat the way the metals in the brake components do...
heres a test to try. turn you bulbs on for an hour, and drive for an hour. come home, wait 5 min, touch the bulb...it should be cool by now. now touch the caliper or rotor. now go visit the ER for the burns you have on your finger tips

When I changed the bulb on my gear shift legend in the console, it was WAY too bright so I took a Sharpie and colored in the tip of the bulb in black. It worked like a charm to dim the bulb a little.
I think your idea sounds good. Give it a shot. What's the worst that could happen? You have to buy another bulb for a buck?

You could also get a set of LED turn signal bulbs. They're typically a lot dimmer than the stock turn signal bulbs...
I've also seen silver coated bulbs at Pep Boys that illuminate yellow. They might also be a bit dimmer.

There are also the titanium bulbs that look chrome until they are lit. Then they turn amber. I have seen them on ebay for 10 bucks a pair.

do you need to add a resistor or sumthing to make them flash properly?

I believe it depends on two things:
1. Whether the car in question uses thermal flasher units or electronic timer ones. I don't know which the Elantra uses. The thermal ones need some resistance to trigger; the electronic ones don't.
2. Whether the front and rear bulbs are on the same circuit. If the rear bulbs are normal incandescent bulbs and the fronts are LED, there'd probably be enough heat buildup in the circuit to make a thermal turn signal flasher work...

Yes because mine flash really fast,BTW does anyone know where is the flasher located?have seen website selling flashers thar regulate the fast flashing slowing it down to normal .

For the Elantra's... yes, you do need to put in the load equalizers. I have tried this before, and gave up because I didn't want to cut into the wiring. As soon as you put the LED into the car, it flashes like you have a bulb out.

^ It is important for the bulbs to flash at the right speed; there are laws on the DOT about it for inspection (in PA at least), so if they're not flashing at the right speed, a cop could give you a ticket for it...
You can sometimes swap an electronic flasher unit in to replace a thermal flasher unit. They make some that simply plug in where the thermal flasher unit was, but I don't know if they make any that fit an XD/XD2. My dad had to do that in Texas on an ancient Pontiac TranSport van.

Why not just buy amber bulbs or silver/chrome color bulbs that shine amber? Works perfect in my front turn sigs and you can't even see them when they aren't lit.
