Well, it could. If you want to make sure that you shift under 5,000...

A shift light isn't going to prevent you from grinding your gears ... just listen to the engine and keep an eye on the tach. Make sure you're depressing the clutch fully when you are shifting. That's more important than a shift light.

The grinding has nothing to do with RPM's.
You just suck. Sorry, it's a harsh thing to say perhaps, but it had to be said, and given the situation and timing of your post, it just ended up being me saying it.
Make sure you fully depress the clutch, THEN shift, THEN dump the clutch.
Trust me. I had the same problem at some point but it's been forever since I've grinded second.

press the cluch all the way in, through it into secound *grind* then took the foot off the cluch
for it not to grind i have to shift slow and not force it in but if i do it grinds

Hell, I never even lift the throttle when I speed shift, and it still doesn't grind. Maybe it's time to change the mt fluid.

Good point, perhaps the fluid is in ****. MT-90 all the way baby.

but i only have 12,000 km on the car its an 06 too. can the TWM short thorow shifter, aluminum base bushings and kartboy linkage bushings have something to do with this?
The only thing they would do is make your clutch slip if you haven't done the restricter plate removal...I know this because it's what pisses me off when I speed shift and after I drive my friends 5/6-speeds.
I ground 3rd the other day just because I wasn't focused on driving at all, and it was the first time in a while.
Just do what kewl has said, even if he said it in a bit of a rough manner. He means well...
*note* as long as your not racing. racing is bad on the street! I know this!

but i did remove the spring from the slave cylinder. also i dont street race i either take it to the track or a privetly owned highway with the promission of the owner.
anyways i guess ill just shift slow and wont force it in

Yes, that is exactly your problem, KINDA! See, you are shifting too fast, not allowing the synchros to catch up with you. Try shifting a little slower. Trust me on this one, I ruined my '02 GLS's tranny ($2500 to replace) because I shifted to fast. From time to time, I grind my 2nd gear, but that's speed shifting, and our cars can't handle it.
Have you done the clutch slave cylinder mod yet. If not, I recommend doing that. And try practicing shifting slower. You'll find that if you can get your timing and arm speed right, there a little jump when you get back on the accelerator. Most people would call it Perfect Shifting (that's from Need for Speed), I call it heaven.

try looking up the IAC restrictor plate.... should be a couple threads back cuz guys were talking about this earlyer in the week....
That will help your rpm's drop faster and make your car shift faster.....
then get yourself a lightweight flywheel..... same deal....
you are theoretically rev matching in reverse as you let the rpm's drop as you shift..... therefore if the rpm's drop faster... you will be able to shift faster.... hopefully without damaging your tranny.....
Another thing... make sure you let your foot off the gas BEFORE you start pressing in the clutch.. that way the rpm's dont jump up as you release the clutch.

yes ive done both the clutch slave cylinder mod and the IAC restriction plate. well i guess ill go easy on it becuase i dont want to kill my tranny

Those bushings could have a lot to do with it. Evan, (I think) had issues with this same thing because of metal bushings.

Are the kartboy bushings poly, or aluminum?

they are poly
kind to think of it. it all started after i put a really big and heavy nut on the shifter so it will be easyer to shift.
can that have something to do with it?

You may have changed the way it's counter weighted. That could be a problem. Always, always, always, retrace your steps. If you've done something, like you've said you did, and there's been an adverse affect with the same system you messed with, chances are good that whatever it is you did, messed the system up.
If you've got the KartBoy poly bushings, then they aren't your issue. They still have some give in them, more than solid ones, so they shouldn't mess anything up.

he has a farm with a huge land. u enter his land and it has a sighn "privette property DO NOT TRANSPASS" and then u drive on a gravel road and then u reach a paved strech of road with 2 lanes. it sucks right now cuz you need a truck to get into there so i cant race during the winter

My car grinds in second when I shift too fast too. It's the only gear that grinds on my car

85K Miles on my ol turd and it's "crunched" 2nd for years. Part of the XD's trans issues IMO. REgular fluid changes and all that jazz, but the real issue is the fact that this is an ECONOMY CAR NOT A RACE CAR. REality sometimes sucks. The car was not made for repeated redline, synchro crashing shifts.
With that said, I run mine close to redline at least once a day for at least one shift. Actually, this morning was one such occurance. It can be done, you just have to FEEL the car and not rush it. It will go, just not as quickly as one would like.

I'm in the same boat as you. I get the crunch everyonce in a while. Especially when it's cold, you have to go real slow till the transmission warms up. TWM shifter with the alumining bushings. I have a 110,000 + miles and still runs fine.
To the O.P. if you are grinding them that often I would do something different before you smoke the synchros in the car.
One last note. LEARN HOW TO SPELL. My brain hurts after reading your posts.

Get your car at your local dealer and have the tranny open. I had the same problem with my '06. They had to replace the 1-2 synchro (including the hub), the 2 gear and the 4-5 synchro. They also changed my clutch assembly, because it was toasted (only 43 000 km). Since then, i have no problem shifting it at high rpm (about 5500 rpm). My only concern is that i will soon have to change the clutch again. Those OEM unit really suck!!

Am I right in thinking that the 1-2 shift doesn't grind except when you're racing?
Let me start by saying that I've got a TWM short shifter with the Al base bushings and the Delrin shift linkage bushings. So my set up is pretty much just like yours (except I don't have a whopping great big nut on my shifter)
I don't have any trouble shifting normally. When launching from a standing start, though, I do sometimes find it tricky to quick shift from 1 to 2. It works better and more smoothly when I double declutch.
You also do need to watch your revs and shift at the right time to get a better launch but that isn't really related to the grinding.
One other thing to try is to ask an experienced and capable driver to drive your car and see if he/she has the same problem. Or ask them to sit in the passenger seat and watch you. Its possible that in your eagerness to go fast you're dropping the clutch too early (ie before the shifter has fully engaged)
