Talked to the dealer rep at the local dealer about my CV Driveshaft. The guy didn't even wait for me to explain. "It's bent and the warranty does not cover "bent" driveshafts". Also he told me that this problem occurs often with people whom live in a rural areas with poor road maintenance. (I guess I'm not supose to drive my car in PA.) Ok if I knew I was going to have to eat the cost of this I would have done it myself. I found the problem they didn't. However I feel that a car with over 50,000 miles and my dog hasn't been chasing ducks with it. I don't see how I could have done it. Thats what the warranty is for. I have taken cars with higher mileage and have done bad things with them and never had to replace a drive shaft. This is car number 2 that has had this problem. The yahoos they have working in the shop can't even balance a tire right (especially packed with mud). And won't look anyfurther than the tires and the rims they bent by not torqueing them down properly. My rims are not bent. They're dirty and the holes where the wheel studs hold them on are stretched, which usually occurs by improper use of air gun. Rims should be tightened to 60-80lb of torque. Air guns are not that accurate. They also screwed up my custom rims. (one I screwed up the other three all them) proving it w/o my retired mechanic going to jail not worth mentioning. I'm not done fighting the drive shaft issue. I feel the drive shaft was made improperly and there are probably alot of people driving around with bent drive shafts because I don't drive my car as hard as I the way others drive them. Also I'm anal about the way my car performs my husband tells me often. There are things I come to expect. If you say the warranty covers a part it covers a part. If I put the car in a ditch then my car insurance pays, just driving it down the road, the warrany pays. I pay more than $100 for a car I expect things to last through the warranty.
So If I bent a driveshaft, ladies and gentlemen check yours.
If I didn't love my little white POS. I would have driven her through their front door.

Ah, so you live up in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area? Whats it like up that way?
Per your problem, what kind of transmission do you have?
I never ever trust the stealerships (Thanks bob for that awesome term). They're usually in it only to make a buck off you. Some are really good, but my experience has been that every PA dealership has been fairly unhelpful.

Driveshafts don't bend that easy. Twist, MAYBE, but that takes a lot of power to do that. I suspect other things are going on to cause it to *bend* other than road conditions. Normally, the driveshaft moves with the suspension and if there is a bind somewhere, it is in the 2 joints themselves.
I have a similar experience where my upper control arms are bowing with the cars weight, and causing huge misalignment issues. However, I fixed my problem by installing a custom part, which is adjustable. The bow in the stock part is between 1/8-3/16 inch with 500 pounds of force. The new parts are designed for 30,000 pounds of radial force.

Tunkhannock is a very quiet historic town. Some of the smaller towns outside of Scranton and Wilkes-Barre are nice. Alot of Coal mining history in the surrounding towns, they look a little run down. Tunkhannock is mostly agracultural except for P&G being close which is why I think in town stayed historic.
I have an automatic transmission in the LW POS.

cclngthr = thanks for agreeing that it had to be something more. I have a picture of a worn lower control arm bushing that the dealer rep completely dismissed. Other issues I have with the effectiveness of their mechanics is also on my camera phone.

A worn bushing might cause premature wear on the CV joint bearings, but not likely unless the angle was way off. I have seen driveshafts twist (which would cause a bend), but on a car like the XD, that isn't likely. You would have to be racing the car with at least 250 hp to bend those axles.
On my car, I have the stock control arms, which I'm keeping, plus paperwork from independent sources I deal with regarding the issue. I'm working with the NHTSA on forcing a recall on those arms because it is unsafe for them to bend and drive straight.

Car history. Dec 2005 a kid having a bad day rear ends my car. May 2006 hit hole on the way to work, taking out tire and bending custom rim. Put stock rims back on and go to work. The shake didn't start until May 2007. since the hole issue nothing more has happened to this poor car except drive it. I live on a dirt road and the road leading to the state hwy was good until june when the state decided it needed speed bumps. (drainage ditches of which they either fill too much or not enough.) I could see if I have modified anything on this car except rim. But I havent. Nothing here would bend a drive shaft. The hole issue did nothing more than a wheel. I had the dealer check it out to be sure I didn't do more damage. They said everything looks good. But I see no one there really cares unless it is their car.
