5th Annual Pittsburgh Meet

Yes ladies and gentlemen, it's that time again for the infamous Pittsburgh meet, I have had some great success with these in the past, and would like to continue to do so. There will be some changes this year, as I do not have a place to stuff 10-15 cars where people can crash at my old house. I've moved into an apartment, and can let as many people stay over, your cars will just have to be somewhere else.

For the meet itself I am thinking of a new place, just recently built and has room for EVERYTHING. This is the new park near Monroeville, it is much easier to get to, larger then past pavillions, and has alot more stuff to do.

The park is located less then four miles from 376, which is right off the PA turnpike. Here is a link for those who need to get directions.

There is no real address for the pavillion at the park. But I will be able to give you detailed directions.

From 376, you will be taking the Plum, which is 14b, and merging onto Mosside Blvd. From there you will go through one light, passing Old William Penn Highway. As the Mosside Blvd and Beatty Road intersection, you will be making a riggt onto Beatty Road. Beatty Road will then turn into Cooper Road, and you will pass over the PA Turnpike. From the you will come to a T intersection at Cooper Road and Old Frankstown Road. Make the left onto Old Frankstown Road. Once on old Frankstown you will go a mile or two and come to Center Road, from Center Road (Orange Belt), make the right onto Center Road. After getting on Center Road, you will be making the next right into Boyce park. As you enter the park you will come to a T, make the right and follow it down. There will be signs posted, and the pavillion is on the left hand side about a mile into the park.

The tennative date for this meet will be September 29-30. The main portion will be on Saturday. Again, I have limited space, which includes one extra bed, a futon, and a couch for people to sleep on. I am asking that people either:

A. send a small donation (5-10 dollars) to cover food, drinks, etc. or
B. Offer to bring something.

I can have up to 15-20ish people stay at my apartment, but it will be swamped.

i have a few in mind that may work out fairly well..

depending on the day i may have access to a pavilion with decent parking, not a ton, but its pretty good. Or a movie theater parking lot, or school parking lot with a full size field with soccer nets and such setup.

all would either be cheap or free..
also if we did something like in allentown im sure we could find a restaurant willing to let us setup in their lot if we planned on eating there..

all just ideas. not trying to steal the thunder from yamaha.. but we should talk.. i have some connections i didnt have before..

I am for sure on this one. Just need the dates, to ensure I get the days off that I need. It's soooooooooo great to be a few hours away from the PA/NY/VA/MD guys, instead of the 14 or more I was when I was in Florida.

I looked up Monroeville PA & there are about 6 parks.(Sugar Camp, Pioneer, Heritage, Beechwood, Alpine, Kevington) :eek: .

you know, you can ask from help from other people, so you're not doing this 100% on your own. im sure SOMEONE could make up some awards (i dont have the creativity to do it), someone could plan a couple activities, someone could get with people to plan the cookout and who's bringing what, etc etc.

Also i just put in a call to the pittsburgh parks works building. they run pavillians in schenley, frick, highland, riverview and some other place. Ill ask if they have anything with parking or field etc. next to it. I left a message, so ill have to get back to you.. most of those places are close to parkway ramps..

Just got word from a coworker who worked in the boyce campus area. If the pavillian is anywhere near that arrow in the map you put up on post 1 he siad there are about 2-3 cops that SIT in the park all day. he said the one cop will stop for just about anything, and his eyes area always open.. plates/tags/lights out etc.

so everyone be careful and keep a watchful eye

That is the way it was at the USNYHM, all of the Hyundai's were good, the was the A**hole Lexus people (daddy bought this cool car crowd) & as well as the VW that were there, we did get a Honda with a spare on the front tire do a burn out & the cops went after him,, the Hundai guys went & too a picture of the ticketer.. i remember the first meet, when i recommended Boyce Park, and we had an awesome time there.
BUT, just want to give you guys a heads up, PUT your windows down the entire time in Monroeville. I haven't been to that area ever since they pulled me over for window tint... and i don't plan to go back there anytime soon (other than Boyce Park, Monroeville doesn't have shiet anymore).

in fact, had i known, i would have definitely recommended not having it in Monroeville.
