Ok Guys I need your help.

I have come to the realization that as cool as my car looks, it doesnt matter if i cant beat a minivan off a red light, so i have made a point to begin to squeeze some extra power out of my 03 GLS.

I am hours from installing my cut out exhaust with the help of a few buddies, but I know that the Hyundai stock airbox is kililng me. A new intake would do wonders. Trouble is, I cant decide which type

A Cold Air setup would be a solid choice, simple, relatively cheap and a proven winner. I worry about the low intake position though as I live in the middle of the snowbelt 50 miles from cleveland, and I need to drive my car in the winter.

A short ram seems appealing to me because I no longer need to worry about drowning my 2.0L baby. However, will i recieve a comparable boost in airflow/ power, and does anyone have any suggestions on types, cause these tend to be slightly more expensive per my research.

Any opinions and links to your favs would be appreciated.

Thanks!

PS. Oh and do any of you have a suggestion of how to get a new side mirror for less than the 78.20 the dealership is trying to get for a new mirror glass only. Right now i taped a 2.99 visor mirror from CVS to it.

thankyou

the search option is a WONDERFUL thing.

that being said, and for fear of coming accross as a TOTAL asshole, go with the cold air. if u get the 2 piece tube(or if u can find a three piece) you can always elminat that last tube section and use the rest as a short ram during the wet months. IIRC there are a few members here who do that.

get the cold air and an aem bypass valve. In fact, if you do a 2.75 inch tube for the cai, I can sell you my AEM bypass valve. I went 2 winters in Canada with it on, and didn't kill my car. I went through puddles deep enough to hydrolock stock cars (I know that because there were 5 cars dead on the other side of the puddle) and still came through unscathed. It's definately the best option

check my edited post just above yours. i hope that answered your question. my bad for misinterpreting your question. but if you like the CAI, a multi-piece tube can ALWAYS be converted to a SRI on your whim... albeit with a little bit of work that COULD get annoying when its gotta be dont every year for the wet months. Fortunately i dont have to wrry about that since it basically never rains in san diego.

also, kind of off topic, if u can, try and get a K&N filter. I've read (though not experienced) that it helps out the intake more than the filter that typically comes in the kits.

there is that 82 dollar one that i see whenever i look for em, but what about the accord. can anyone that has done the accord cold air intake in their car explain what, if any maciver-ish things you had to do to make it work.

To be honest, you deserve a smart-*** remark. This thread needs to be closed.

YOU NEED TO USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION. This has been beat to death repeatedly in the forum. As a matter of fact, if you go to the N/A Forum, you'll find the Intake thread stickied to the top of it.

dude chill out. I looked through the thread, i was just wondering what the people in the forums opinions and preferences were. its a forum afterall, with people. thats why its better than a book, you can talk to people and ask questions.....

I hear you (or read you). But we've got more threads than your age and my age added together about the SRI vs. CAI discussion. You've already answered your own questions by stating a Winter problem. And yet, even that has already been discussed.

Sure, it's much easier to ask a question like this, but some of us don't like laziness. This stuff HAS been talked about a lot. Please, search, you'll find the answers you need. And if the answer you are looking for isn't found, DON'T start a new thread, reply to an old one.

And because you started this thread, ALL noobs searching CAI or SRI will find this thread and realize how useless the search becomes due to ALL the CAI/SRI threads there are. And then they'll just start a new one, defeating the purpose.

Allright I see what you're getting at.

I wasnt trying to be lazy, though. Unlike some others, I try to contribute to threads rather than start a new one as much as possible, and will continue to try and do so in the future as well. In fact, this was probably the first new thread i have ever started here anyway.

But still, you're right.

Get the CAI and a bypass valve. Problem solved.
