My wife just finished it, I'm currently listening to the MP3 version, and all I have to say is, holy body count! It's like 1 person killed per chapter. Anybody else writing a "children's" book with that kind of killoff probably would have been sent off to the loonybin for psycho evaluation. And you see these really young kids lining up to read it... goodbye to the age of innocence I guess...

Deaths aside, it was actually a pretty good ending to the story.
That's actually how my girlfriend had convinced me to read it..she said "a LOT of people die."

It's a decent read, pretty fast-paced.

Always. :( Dont know wtf is wrong with producers. I'd rather watch a miniseries for one book than have it dummed down and shortened.

I had mine delivered to me at 12:20 am Saturday by a pretty young lady who from my workplace. In between boozing it up and attending the ghostworld conference, and having dinner with friends, I got done with it by ten pm Saturday night.

:abovelol: :abovelol: Never started, never will. Only time I ever "liked" Harry Potter is when they made fun of him in Epic Movie. Well, at least it's over now.

Yes, at 28 years old I will admit it:
"My mommy made me do it"
She bought the first DVD when it came out and I decided I'd watch it with her.
Been hooked ever since.

Adults being able to read at all is a great thing. The fact that they are doing it is something to be happy for, especially given how many people are unable to read at all in the world.

Then you've obviously never read the books.
They're not just targeted "for kids"
I thought the same thing, before I read the stories, but they're actually a very good read. They kept my interest until the end with no problems.
I think that anyone who wants to get into the books needs to watch the movies first, then read the books. I was totally dissappointed by the fifth movie, because so much of the book was omitted.

I like to watch a movie based on a book first. Then, when I read the book, I have a image of the characters in my mind as I read. Of course, the book is always better than the movie. The producers only have so much time with which to work. It's absolutely brilliant that they are able to condense the contents of the book into anything that is able to be comprehended. It's also necessary to make changes to satiate the visual dynamic as well.
If you go to your local bookstore and peruse the literature section, it's quite amazing how many titles have been made into movies.
I have to admit, I've seen the first four HP movies but have not bothered to read any of the books. I might swing by and pick up the series or whatever portion of it is available tonight.

You're right I haven't and probably shouldn't dismiss them so fast, but the last thing i'm looking to do after a 12 hour work day is come home and start reading a novel.

Book on mp3 while I commute, read by some British guy... I know it's not the same as reading, but I still get the story.
