One of the lights in my gauge cluster (behind the speedometer) has gone out. I contacted the dealership and was told i would have to replace the whole cluster.
I did some searching on the site and know that some of you have modified the cluster with new leds, light condums (as they have been called) and different colored bulbs.
Is the service manager misinformed or is he correct? He asked if my cluster had the trip reset thing (which it does) and said that bulbs could not be changed because i had that type of cluster therefore the whole thing would have to be replaced.
If the bulbs can be replaced, what kind/size do I get? Its the bulb on the left side of the speedo behind the numbers. And where do I find them (autozone, rad shack, wally world, online...)? Any hazards or "need to knows" for replacing the bulb?
Thanks so much!

Random question, but I was under the impression that you need to remove the needles to change the bulbs (and bulb color). Looking at your diagram, this doesn't seem true. Do you have to remove the needles?
And like everyone else said, the bulbs can be changed. Many people here have changed out the bulbs (for a different color) w/out any issues.

NO! You don't remove anything from the front. See those little caps on the back, they twist out. Remove it, pull the bulb out, put a new one in, twist back into the back of the cluster = done.

IIRC from "back in the day" when we first started taking apart the XD, I beleive there is no bulb type that matches those. They seemed to be a weird size that no-one could find. If Hyundai's parts page still worked, we could look there and see if it says so. Maybe Webtech?

Not to drag this off topic, but FYI you need to use I.E. for webtech. It won't work with firefox or any other browser. That's ususally most people's problem.
