help with photoshop?

i need everything that is purple to be white. basically i need to put this through like a black and white filter or somethin.

To make an image black and white you just need to change the mode.

Image> Mode> Grayscale.

There are better ways, but that's a bad picture to start off with so I don't think it matters.

Just spend some time looking around at all of the tools in the program. Then try some of them. That's how I learned how to use it.
