Just went out and bought a Dual core, 2.6GHz AMD64, 3GB RAM computer for my brother from best buy.
It runs pretty good but OMG is vista so much different from XP. I'm trying to configure a wireless PC card for our network, and here I am, running around in circles on the menus. I feel like I'm sitting in front of a mac!
Its pretty funny to watch, actually. I might end up throwing it on the ground and then returning it saying it was in 5421352 peices when i opened the box

Funny you mention that.
A chick I hang out with at school had just bought a laptop last semester and asked me to configure her PC for our wireless (it's a VPN). I'm like OK without knowing she had Vista.... Took me around 45 minutes DAMN!
If you would ask me though I don't remember anymore because it's been a couple months. But instead of running around in circles in the proprieties settings and whatnot in the control panel which has some weird clickable areas for the network, I think you just had to configure a ''dial-up'' connection but with different settings. This was, of course, for a VPN, which is totally different than a normal wireless connection.

I just did it on mine when I upgraded to Vista and I had to install the driver and go into the connect to properties, type in what it was needing and it logged me on. I'll be doing the same today when I finish upgrading my friends computer with Vista.
I hate Vista with a passion. It's so worthless. It eats up so much memory it's not even funny.I have thought about goin back to XP
I love my mac. Turn it on, asks if you want to connect to the wireless network, hit OK, and your on.
Ha. I hate vista.

well i figured out what the problem was. the wireless card i was trying to install has internal damage and does not power on, SO vista couldn't even detect that it was there.
argh time to drive an hour to return it to the store :(

I dont think Vista is that bad. Its a little slick. I couldnt imagine running it without my 2gb of ram. I have an XP cd, but Ill keep Vista on my laptop for the time being.

Yes. Since you had to bring out some Apple hate, I'm glad OPZ decided to easily take care of it for us Mac guys. Why have a startup disk and drivers when you can just hook crap up and let it work no problem?
And on topic, I haven't used Vista yet, glad to know I'm not missing anything.

I've been using vista for a while now and haven't had major issues, but of course working in computer repair at a retail store as I do, I see a lot of problems that other people are having with Vista that I get to try to solve, all fun...of course.
Keyan, what store did you get it from, if you don't say one particular store I'll have a great suggestion for where to shop for computer stuff in the future.
Thats odd. I popped in a wireless card vista did all the work. Couple of secs and it was done without me really have to click anything(cant remember clicking anything)

Depends on the card. I had to manually download the patch for Vista to recognize mine

Yeah, some manufacturers went all out to rush out drivers to be in the Vista release, and some slacked off and released them on their sites after the fact. Either way, it's usually better to download the newest ones anyway, most of the ones that come with Vista may still be buggy.

It depends on the memory, motherboard and buss speed. I have a AMD 64 with 1.5gb ram (DDR400). It runs fine with my machine since I have enough ram to allow Vista to do its work. On the Intel boards, you need at least a 800 FSB to get it to operate like it should without slowing down.

haha Vista suck!!! :D
We had a tryout at work and every guy I know that had a Vista machine hated it ... even the sys admins were quite clear about how Vista was totally ****ty!
HA! I love my OSX! :D (2 clics to activate the LAN and 2 other clics to share folders with my PC ... took me half an hour on my PC to set the damn share and LAN settings! lolll)
