I found a 1992 Plymouth Laser AWD turbo that someone local wants to sell for 1,000 dollars. The car would be a pure winter car and the occasional rally cross that we have local. The car is rough, with no interior minus front seats and dash, and completly stock minus that. Again, he wants 1,000 bucks for it, but I think he can be talked down some due to it's condition. Here are some pictures. I'm about 30% interested in the car at this point. The transmission shifts fine, minus 2nd gear which grinds when you upshift, but downshifting is fine.

I wouldn't...looks pretty rough, even for that price. If you hunt around you can probably find a deal almost as good as that, with an interior.

i would not. Its a bit too rough, obviously it hasn't been taken care of well and its a DSM at that. We all know their reliabilty, even with it being a winter only car i'm not sure i could jump on it.
Theres a 85 mustang with the 2.3 with 70k orginal miles by me for 1500 bux. you should get it :)

what they said, i don't think it is worth more than a few hundred dollars. You are better off trying to find a honda or toyota for 1k for a winter beater.

That beater has already been beaten to it's limits!
Dude, if our winter is as bad as the last one, your ganna freeze in that thing.
Theres some REALLY nice local cars up here for sale...
like a 200 hp+ RHD civic SI type-r.

Wouldn't touch that car with a 10 ft. pole. Looks like a possible electrical nightmare! Plus, I'm sure it doesn't smeel that great either!

I'd rock that, but for $800 at best.
Turn the boost controler to the nog setting and let a rip. That motor will take a rapeing and keep turning . The transmission however, is a known weak point. As is the center diff.

I like it too, but don't you have enough vehicles already?

And that's where my stupidity at times comes in (at least I can admit that one!).
I would buy it, but definitely not for $1000. $600 or $700 because of it's condition, yes.
I'm a DSM fan, especially the 4G63, and even more so the AWD platforms. This is the early EVO in the states. That car would make the perfect Rally Car and a winter beater. Hell, there's no place you couldn't go if you wrenched on it enough to make it rally-like before winter gets here.

could get something in better condition for the same money - hey - it might even have a complete interior!
stay away from that one - it will prolly be a LOT more work than you think just by looking at it.
if you REALLY want that one... dont pay more than 600 or 700 for it - at most!

But being an old Plymouth/Mitsu/eagle it'll cost a fortune to keep it on the road.

2nd.. you need a new place with extra garage space for your hobbies hehe

if you really are intersted in it, run a compression test and a leakdown on it to see how well the motor is doing.

$600 is the most I would pay for a car in that condition... I wonder if you can fit the turbo onto an XD? $600 would be a decent price for a used complete turbo kit for our cars.

I offered him 700 dollars via a PM on our local forum. He never got back to me, so I'm not suprised to say the least.
Like I said, theres a yard up here with a bunch of winter-beaters.
So many winter options in this craphole town. I'll snap a few pics when im there next asking about something...

I can see the beauty in almost any turd. I'd get it. I mean, even for a grand, the turbo and all that goes with it is worth it.
