What % tint is illegal

I am going to tint my windows, but i dont want to get some tickets...so what percent is the most you can tint your windows

^^ he's right. In my state for example, any tint on front windows is illegal, but you can go black as possible in the rears.

Check your local department of motor vehicles or what ever they call it in your state. But yes it depends on your states laws.

I'm at work, where I don't have that website handy that tells you the legalities in all states and provinces.....anyone remember it? Perhaps search the archive, I know it was discussed there.

my states law is 35% minimum on rear and side windows.
I'm getting 20% though. I've had even 15% before and didn't get ticketed.

Unless your states police force is very harsh, it shouldn't be a problem, talk to as many installers as possible for their opinions and experiences.

Here (http://www.tintdude.com/forum/) is a forum on window tinting, they also have a referal service. I found a tinter local and am very happy. Not some here today gone tomorrow outfit.
Mine is 20% in the rear, 35% on the front.

Yeah be very careful when it comes to tinting out your windows. I got pulled over for that last year and I had to peel it off my front windows. He tried to tell me that I had to get it off my back windows too, but I check with my state police and found out that the rear windows are just fine in PA (I've got 20% in the back)...so be safe and find out for sure...if not, be careful, and roll down your windows when ya see the po-po! Haha...

One trick I've heard with tinited windows -- easy to do since all US XD Elantras have power windows:

If you get pulled over by the police, simply power all the windows down. Most cops (my brother-in-law for one) are just concerned with their safety; if you put the windows down, they can see inside the car so that they know how many people there are and that there are no weapons (hopefully). Of course if it's raining...
