I was thinking that you painted the whole thing at first, but what you did is better

what you use? a toothpick or a small brush? i wanted to do that to my stithces on my knob but i never got around to it. I know for painting the stitches on shoes you use a toothpick (in case anyone else wants to mod tennis shoes)

1. alcohol to clean
2. broke the tip of a toothpick to use to fill the number.
3. let dry a bit then wipe off excess
4. when completely dry cleaned with alcohol again.

Looks good. I wonder how it would look with black letters.

Hmmm... I think I'll do that with my tib knob. I like the black a lot. It's subtle, yet in your face.

Speaking of which, where do you people get these tib knobs? Are the sold on an aftermarket site, or just secondhand?

I got mine from the dealer. Kspec, and all of the rest of them have them as well.

Here you go Cory. I just had to do it, and I think it did alright.

I ordered mine from SFR for $30. I love mine, it feels really good. Better than the OEM leather GT knob I got from the factory that wore away on he right side where my palm sits.
The groves cut into the top there, they are very comfortable in my hand too. I am personally against painting the numbers, only because I already know how many gears there are, and where Reverse is. However, they do add some nice touches to those cars that have them.

I just wanted some difference in color... add some "flair".

I would maybe go over the whole top of the knob with some non-yellowing clear coat. Looks sweet.

I thought about that, but it would rub off at some point. And, since the letters are sunken into the knob, I shouldn't have to worry about them wearing off.
